The nice thing for me this time (vs. when the 1M came out) is that the timing will work out well - I will be ending my M235 lease when this baby is halfway through the production cycle.

Hopefully that means that the pricing has stabalized and decent deals can be had - but this might be the first car I have ever bought new and intend to keep (I usually lease).

My god does bigger wheels help this body style - even on a test mule.

You and I both know that a Porsche priced in the mid-80s is going to cost over $100K with even basic options.

Going from Cayman to Cayman S is $64k to 75k. But considering this will be one of the more hardcore GT cars, I expect the price to be more than mid 80s, and that's with option. The price jump from old GTS to GT3 was pretty significant.

No doubt if I had the kind of money for it, it would be way up there on my list. It's going to be a fantastic car, but a hell of an expensive one.

Agreed. I've actually never bought a new car, but the M2 might be everything I want. No options, LED lights if they are available by then, same with ZCP. Absolutely nothing else. And do ED for it.

I love was watching Chasing Classic Cars on TV. They featured a guy that owned a 70s Porsche 911 for over 40 years. Maybe I could do something like that with the M2

I'm with you - my lease will be ending smack in the middle of the M2 production cycle, and it might be the first car I buy outright and keep.

We can probably rule out the first three on the list, unless BMW wants to show a "concept" version. I doubt they will. It will probably be nothing but spy shots, teasers and promo videos until we see the production car unveiled.

I'm hoping we see something in Geneva or New York. Even that seems a little early for 2016 deliveries. However, waiting until Frankfurt (the next major show after the spring show season finishes) seems like it could be too close to launch.

Heh, exactly. It's a Porsche, so if you want decent seats, add $2,600. Want wheels that won't embarrass you? Add $4,500. Add in leather and any kind of infotainment options and you're spending $10k on options in a hurry.

I'll take a base M2 with a manual and leather.
