still would be fun but yes lacks a great transmission/engine....in that category i would say above average.

i was just there this past weekend and took a wrong turn and almost visited the air force base instead of going to the track LOL.

Sounds great. A little unorthodox from what we usually see in a race car, but who am I to say they are doing it wrong. For those keyboard Debby downers claiming to be racing engineers, I'm sure your complaints were taken into consideration for the development of this car & they threw that idea out the window.

Yes. Which is why you really only hear it when it's working hard.

I am a bit perplexed about the transmission. I was under the impression that it was not up for the abuse of a track day.

I feel that this is the interesting thing about racing this car in it's current configuration. Perceptions about this type of transmission will either be confirmed or refuted.

Jesus, that thing has a turbo?! I thought turbos sounded lifeless and laggy Sure sounds like a bmw 6-in-a-row in the purest form.

Looks and sounds very snappy, I love it. I'm sure it will be offered with a stick too, but as an engineering exercise it shows how good modern autos are, regardless of that fact that many (like me) would still rather a stick.

Nice job bmw!

Yep. And I'd bet that most of those ragging on the sport 8AT have never driven it in a track.

I think this goes to show just how amazing that sport 8 speed transmission is. I wish I had it in my car.

Interesting that it has the same CF brace in the engine bay as the F8x.
