I honestly think the A/CLA 45 will be totally outgunned by the other two. That is, unless AMG comes out with a performance/competition/LCI model in a year or two with a significant bump in hp. As it stands now, the S3 is just as quick and maneuverable.
The s3 traps 110+?

Not a big fan of this attitude, but you are entitled to your opinion.

Out of all the automakers right now, I'd say ford has been the most impressive as of late. By a long shot.

Attitude? Since when did ford start making luxury & sports cars? Yea the mustang is the only iconic car ford made but thats about it.

Maybe in Europe, the ford brand is different. Here in Merica, its just a ford and you cant compare a ford to a bmw/benz/audi, its a different league...face it

As in "oh it's still a ford", not saying you're wrong for thinking that way, but I don't agree with that reasoning.

Only iconic ford? Um, have you heard of the ford GT? Did you see the new one, that is absolutely breathtaking?

Don't waste your breath Alex. Mindless posts not worth a response, just trolling for trouble.

Toss me under "nobody", then. My current "short list" for my next new car includes the M2, Focus RS, and Mustang GT350 (and the used list extends into even more classes). Many consumers (especially enthusiasts) do not cross-shop within one single class of car.

The new GT can easy stay near Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren!
But I still prefer the hot hatch compact class

Only in your mind. People buy cars for different reasons. People will not buy a car they personally think is unattractive. If someone has a bad experience with a car they will always say never again and this happens with German luxury vehicles frequently enough too.

I cars price tag is based on what goes in it. I high powered engine and smooth shifting transmission being one. I paid what I paid for my 228i for those two things. However I have seen nicer interiors in 23,000 Fords than what my BMW has. Why shouldnt Ford charge allot for a car they have put allot into and performs as well as German counter parts?

The OP is wrong in stating that the RS will ship with 320 hp - figures have not been released yet but Ford has said it will have "substantially more than 316 hp". Most Euro estimates have it up around 340-350. And ford has emphasized that their new AWD is quite light - it's certainly not going to add 200 lbs to the weight of the car, more likely 60-70 lbs.

This will likely come in a few $k lower than the Golf R and blow it out of the water from a performance standpoint - Ford is claiming 1G lateral cornering force with their system, which unlike the Golf R's does not solely rely on brake-based torque vectoring to eliminate understeer. It won't be as refined or have as nice an interior as the Golf, but is does have user-selectable damper settings for comfort/track, and the grins per mile quotient could be better - some reviewers (e.g. Jeremy Clarkson) find the R, while very capable, a bit boring to drive.

I'll cross-shop this - it's about the value for the buck - if this gives me 90% of what I'd get from an M2 for $25k less I will be interested. A big concern for me though is the near-horizontal rake of the windshield on the Focus; I hate that type of design with a passion and am not sure I could live with it.

The latest reliability ratings from JD Power have Ford near the top of the heap, well ahead of - guess who - BMW...

I like these 3 choices indeed. Had a new Ford Mustang GT go by this morning on the way to work. Really like the look of it on the open road. If I can manage to hold on to my current salary for another 2 years then the GT350 or M2 is in my cards. The RS would not be a much lower choice for sure.

lol Im not a fanboy, the convo started that someone estimated the RS to be in the mid $40k so I reply saying that its stupid expensive for a Ford....and it ended up here

Im entitle to my opinion and a ford is just a ford for me, nothing special....well not $45k special

A car with only 20 years history is not that iconic, yes I know the race car was but the street versions history isnt that long....dont get me wrong, not saying its not a great car

So we have the mustang and this...ok, what else?
