Dinan badge is for me, no one else, including my dinan mods and other non-dinan mods. I didn't do to increase value...because it doesn't!

I never suggested anything about improving resale value. I fully expect to sell the vehicle for less than 20 grand in a couple of years, regardless of how it's been configured.

Perhaps it is just me, but the whole 'earn enough points and you can get the badge' is a bit of a turnoff, a kind of manufactured exclusivity. This isn't an Alpine, or a RUF, where it has been fully re-engineered all of a piece; it is a batch of bolt-ons. Admittedly very nice, and designed to work well together, but to me this badge-earning thing is tacky. Reminds me of back in the day when some of the 'hot' JDM tuner houses would only release a few of the most expensive parts, and it was all part of the show-circuit exclusivity (I think Spoon did a lot of that).

Not my cup of tea, but do it if you like it.

Exactly....not up to anyone but me.

Maybe it is "manufactured" but...I didn't buy Dinan bolt-ons for the badge....I got the badge because I just happened to add enough over the year+ and was offered the badge. So I took it.

I definitely won't fault you for putting it on. Weirdly enough, virtually every "Dinan" car I've seen on the road clearly wasn't dinan tuned. IE stock.

True - and especially so if you happen to read these forums about the modifications some posters make and how hard they drive their cars!

^^Too right...there are at LEAST 1/2 dozen 2ers on this forum I wouldn't touch as CPOs!

The car has no other purely aesthetic mods and looks stock apart from the 1/2" drop and tint. I'd be interested in your opinions, especially if we can avoid flaming.

Here's how I weigh it up:

Pros:

I earned it
I am proud of the car
It no longer drives anything like a stock 228i
It's not too blingy
It's a signal to other enthusiasts

Cons:
Catnip for thieves
Catnip for vandals
I'd need to replace my DINAN rear LP frame or the car will look like a billboard on wheels (it also has DINAN engraved exhaust tips)
Maybe it is blingy
Possible provocation to coppers

Thoughts?
No - I would not display the badge. If I really wanted to display the badge, I'd skip the tune and just buy the badge.

I will be adding my badge - however I am getting it painted gloss black.

All those mods, and they don't have a blacked out version of the badge?

Exactly how I feel about dealers putting their dealership stickers on my car. Either pay me a marketing fee or give me a discount. Otherwise, keep your ugly sticker and license frame off of my beautiful car.

I don't mind the plate frame, until I get s/t better. The stickers or stick-on placards should get somebody shot. They seem to be getting it lately, but used to be they would put them on everything.

I have it, didn't stick the badge on. I don't need to advertise what's under the hood. Just let folks wonder after they are passed. .
