Now that you say that, I think I had heard that before--and yes, I am with BMWFS. I will check into it--thanks!

So sold on a M235i... is the US version Xdrive only though? It's between this and the new A3 sportback for me so they need to hurry up and show it!
Do you mean this?
http://www.audi.co.uk/new-cars/a3/a3-sportback.html

I'm 99% sure it's been confirmed that we won't get the SB in the US and we'll only get the new sedan. It's still got a transverse motor, so Haldex, not real Quattro, and certainly no Performance Rear Diff. Of course it's certain that the M235i will also be an open rear diff, but at least it will have a rwd bias, unlike the A3.

Why would it be less HP than the 135is? That doesn't make much sense.

David. How you doin buddy

This is normal. Its built into CBS that a car should not go 24 months without a proper oil service as opposed to 2 annual oul services although both give the car the needed oil service it allows for things to trigger in conjunction with an oil service proper. Hope u get what i mean.

Ps btw i have not been on the forum as much as id like to. Freakin stupid stupid busy. Sorry if i missed some things.

Okay, maybe I'm missing something, but I don't get the appeal of the whole GC thing.
If you want 4 doors, get a damn sedan (which is what the GCs are anyway- sticking a feather in my ass and clucking doesn't make me a chicken).

hmmm, so in US it used to be that (1,3,5)28 were the entry models of each class while (1,3,5)30/35 were the premium models. It seems now BMW downgrading each class by supplying a smaller engine (1,3)20 to the entry level models and 28 now becomes the premium. At which point if you want the real premium you go for M badge to get N55engine (considering the news with M235). Hate to sound as a hater but feels like we consumers are being played and it doesn't sound fair unless (of course) the price points do not change.

Perhaps some folks prefer the sleeker coupe-like roofline of a Gran Coupe than a more upright/higher sedan?

Same reason why someone would possibly pick a 6 Series Gran Coupe over a 5 Series Sedan.

The appeal is that the GC looks so much better/sportier than the normal sedan, which means BMW will charge more for it and it will be more exclusive. People who really value looks/exclusivity will buy it. Have you seen the 6 GC in real life? Even compared to a normal 5 or 7 it is STUNNING. The fact that I don't see a hundred of them each day means they are special, especially to their owners.

Getting upset over the GC is like getting upset over the M-Sport package. Seriously, it is. If people want to spend more money to buy a sexier looking sedan, let them. Buying a car because it is beautiful is not a crime. BMW will make more money and maybe even sell more cars.

Here's that 1%:

"The B8 A4 has gotten bigger, more conservative, maybe more luxurious, and we think there's room to bring a smaller, sporty car," Audi of America president Scott Keogh says. The A3 sedan has "tremendous potential" among non-luxury buyers, adds product planner Filip Brabec. Audi of America will continue to sell the new A3 Sportback in at least limited versions, Keogh adds. That's certain to include a TDI.

I'd want the M235i with RWD.

A3 Pros: Has hatch, AWD, im digging the new interior and tons of mod potential from the VAG part bin

M235i pros: RWD, short wheelbase, power, BMW no-maintenance and warranty.

Can't wait! With the 3 series growing ever larger, 2 series is likely to be my next car as I rarely have more than two people in my car.

i feel the same way.
They are trying to get like VW.
And finally they will become like them = nothing special

really sad, i wonder if it really was the only way out of thier problems.
