At the end, given the M2 remains a niche, and will likely become FWD, there will be no more it.

Had it been a no compromise 2+2 sports car, for those that want extra practicality over a pure two seater like a Z4, it would no more be such a niche car. Given BMW has never built any pure performance sports car or supercar, they could at least build something they are good at. But apparently BMW Marketing analyst are too stupid.
Wait for the new Z3 Z5 & Z7

LBB or WBB ?

With recent M2 renders hitting closer to home, I'm wondering how the M2 will look in the LBB launch color.

If Long Beach Blue doesn't appeal to too many, it may go down in ///M history books as "Wrong Beach Blue" for the M2.

Let's see.

I think what will be especially interesting is the initial take rate vs. resale value down the line. There is a distinct possibility that a number of buyers will be ordering their M2s without ever having seen LBB in person, let alone on the 2er body, so will it end up being the quintessential color by which the car is remembered (as with VO on the 1M), or "I should've gone with AW/MG/BS"?

Point taken. I also ordered VO for my 1M without having seen neither the color, nor the car, in the flesh.

But remember also the E46 M3: the concept was revealed in Titanium Silver Metallic and the final version was presented in Phoenix Yellow Metallic. PYM has its fanbase but I doubt that it was very popular during sales back in the day and equally doubt that it has a better resale price today due to the "PYM was the launch color" argument.

Seen all colors last weekend at BMW Park Lane in London...

There was a AW 220i, BS M4 and MG M235i... The LBB was only a sample but I compared it to a M135i in Estoril Blue...

Wow there is a lot of green in that flake. Sea green metallic would've been nicer.

I guess the German's took note of how much Americans like the colour blue. However the "macho" men probably won't go for it.

rather doubt this... there have been tons of colors that weren't initially appreciated that many people later love.. Laguna Seca Blue for example. definitely has it's own following..

henna orange from the E30 M3 is another comes to mind..

Phoenix yellow from the E46 M3 is the progenitor for Austin Yellow..

Well sorta... they took note and put BLUE in the name.. . but as you can see it's really much closer to blue/green.

Americans really do favor blues... but typically more of a true blue. like Subaru WR Blue. . not these baby blues like YMB and sea greens like " Silverstone"

Thanks for that!
I continue to believe LBB is a total fail for the design intent of this car.
Yeah, I like to stand out, and there is a right way to do it. But dressing the car in that color is not the right way.

I think LSB would be a big improvement over LBB. Personally, I would like a blue a bit deeper.
Among those shown below, LMB, for me, strikes all the right chords.

Interesting that the one blue, that I'm aware of, that's missing from that list is Mystic Blue which was a mid-year 2003 replacement for Topaz Blue. I loved that color and purposely waited a few months to order my M3 so I could get it.

Agreed.

IMHO "Teal" or "Teal Blue" seems to be a more accurate description for the color than LBB.

Not convinced yet, but all the other colors are just boring... Black, white and grey... Also LBB will be the launch color, so that might help in the value of the car. I think it will be a great mix with the M wheels and carbon parts.

Still I want to see a X5M or X6M live on a street somewhere. In the end LBB is a lot more green than you think, but not at every angle. It tends to shift between green, blue and mix of both. It feels like a Sea Green of some sort...

Personally, Estoril Blue or Le Mans blue would be my choice if blue would have been BMW's choice, but on other hand I am happy they did not choose Yas Marina (The Smurfs) blue.

All in all, I might just wrap it in satin green, just to stand out more

Why did you post this sample?!? Ugh velvet blue makes me weak. I came very close to buying an individual E39 M5 in that colour, 1 of 6. But thatone had big accidents ( 2x +$10,000 hits)

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE is VB was on M2 (fantasy world)

LSB is a hot colour, the bright colour and the flat effect work so well together. It really is sporty and unique. Almost pastel, and pastels are surging.

If I'm fortunate enough to get an M2 in a couple of years it will probably be LBB...that is, unless they add an orange to the mix! Wink Wink! M2 CSL in orange maybe? Hehe

After seeing those two red M4s in the Manual vs DCT thread, I'd say Imola or Ferrari red should be a launch color.

If BMW had decided to launch the M2 in a "Techno Violet II", I'm pretty sure that I would buy one for the paint color alone. But alas, my fantasies shall remain unfulfilled.

Would be nice if they offered interlagos blue, dakkar yellow, and fire orange .
With the colors offered most likely I'll take the long beach blue.

Again, it 100% depends on the lighting. It's a color that changes all the time.
