My opinion on this is that the tech package is not worth the money. That being said it does slightly improve the interior and gauge cluster look. Other than that enhanced bluetooth, which can either be ordered seperately or coded after delivery. Tire temp and PSI can also be coded to the car. I think the sport displays are pretty cool and the maps are nice, but as others have said usually I am looking for directions to a new place which requires an Iphone search anway. So if the 2150 really stretches your budget you can certainly do without it.

i have the non nav screen in my f30 and its fine. it doesn't look as nice though as the larger screen since the frame around the smaller LCD is thicker, but its not horrible or anything.

Personally I didn't get nav because well even if I had nav I'd still use my phone. its just easier to have someone say text you the address or go on yelp/ google on your phone and click navigate (on an android phone anyway) not to mention google's directions tend to be really good. and with BT audio it would speak the audio on the car's speakers. woudl be nice if the image could be put on the screen but unless you really are awful with directions or really like the instrument cluster / screen its really hard to justify $2000.

Personally, I feel like I shouldn't have to make compromises when buying something this expensive. If I am not able to justify buying the car I want, the way I want it, then I just don't buy the car. This is what drives me bonkers when I see people buying a car off a lot that is "close" to what they want, or especially when you are ordering something like this without options you want because they are hard to justify.

If I am going to spend 40k+ on a car, I'm going to get the exact car I want.

I know leases are a different story, and I get that BMW is ripping us off for a lot of the options. But if I am going to spend this much, I don't want to live the next four years, or even 4 minutes regretting an option I didn't get.

Just my 2 cents.

the tech package was my last contemplation. I've never had integrated nav on a car before. honestly - it makes a world of difference vs. using google maps voice guidance in the background or looking at my phone while driving.

though others have pointed to the phone connector being in the center console as annoying, I view this as a safety feature. I do not (and will not) pull out my phone while driving anymore. even with an ac/windshield mounted phone, you're still looking away from the road.

having the nav arrow beneath the speedo is tremendously helpful.

I've used the Bluetooth streaming music less than I thought I would, as dumping my music onto the hard drive was a huge help, but that's still huge.

I think the nav by itself is worth the tech package. that said, yes, it was a total jack in terms of the tech package being the only way to have gotten nav, but i don't regret for a second ordering it.

when I find myself feeling a second guess on why I didn't get the 235 when I see how close my all in 228 total came to a base 235, I remind myself how much the 235 I would have wanted to build would have actually cost, and it's not just a few thousand bucks.

its a valid point. i always think about it as a "well do i really care about this or not". i mean money is still money. i tend to buy all my cars but i get a new one every 3-4 years. so i always think of it as money id rather spend on something else or roll into my next car. i mean i can afford $2000 more. but $2000 buys a lot of drinks and other toys.

it all depends on how much money you have and all your other expenses if something is worth $X or not.

Did you have psi by default ? or did you have to code both in?

Default, I have the 2015 and the staggered tires - with the higher top speed they would be foolish to eliminate such important information (?)

that screen looks awfully cramped...

anyway, for me, it came down to the screen aesthetics, nav integration and bluetooth streaming (yes, I am aware that could be coded in)... ridiculous price tag sure, but it overall looks great.
