Hey guys, I just picked up a 2014 M235i a couple days ago. It's my first BMW and I'm loving the car.
I've been driving Audi's for the past 11 years (2002 A4 and then 2011 A4). The last A4 was FWD but it had the Sport Pkg and was a nice car...the M235i though is on a whole other level. I actually had to fly out to San Diego from Phoenix to buy the car, there were none anywhere in AZ to even look at in person so it was pretty nuts to do a deal all through the phone/text and just going off pictures...though I didn't actually sign anything until I got to the dealership. The car is Mineral Gray with a 6MT, Premium Pkg, Driver Assistance Pkg (camera & parking sensors), Technology Pkg and Harmon Kardon. Really exactly what I wanted...love the color and all the options, it's exactly what I would have ordered if I were to order a new one (except maybe auto high beams, that would have been nice too). Planning to get tint ASAP (I heard I need to get ceramic tint as metallic interferes with the Comfort Access, is that correct?) and some wheel spacers ASAP, that will probably be it mod wise. Quick funny story and then some pictures. As I was leaving Vista, CA (where the dealership is), I looked up on my phone now to get back and it showed two routes...one heading north to LA and then the I-10 east and the other south toward San Diego and the I-8 east. Instead though, I used the car's navigation and put the address in there, chose fastest route and just went, without actually looking at the map. The car took me through here. It knew the real route that needed to be taken. The road couldn't have been better! Just beautiful two lane highway, 55 MPH limit and wide open most of the way with lots of twists and turns. What a great way to experience the car for the first time! And photos of the car... Last edited by HX_Guy; 07-06-2014 at 11:37 PM.. |

So jealous. Had I known there was a MG 6MT with Tech package available on the west coast, I would have seriously considered flying down there and drove it back to Seattle! Instead, I've been waiting for 5 weeks so far and my car is still stuck at the Bremerhaven port in Germany
Congrats and enjoy! |

Congrats, looks great in Mineral Grey. I am anxiously awaiting my M235i and first BMW as well early next month.
I hope I enjoy mine as much as you seem to be enjoying yours! |

Thanks guys!
This car just keeps getting better and better! I'm like a kid on Christmas X100! Check out this quick video I made and tell me this isn't the coolest thing EVER!! So it's an app called BMW M Laptimer and as you can see, records a crapload of info on your drive. It also has a 0-60 mode but I have to figure out how that part works once I get past the 1200 miles break-in point. The other thing I found cool is that after you disconnect your phone (presumably when you exit the the car), your phone shows you some quick stats. So awesome. Finally, at least for now, I thought this was a nice "touch"...get it? The radio preset buttons are touch sensitive, so you can just move your finger across them and a menu list pops up at the top showing you what station is assigned to each button. |

Had to see what all the fuss was myself and went to do an extensive test drive of a white M235i today. I must say, it lives up to the hype. The car is a beast and handles its own.

I like using the iDrive with my finger to write words for the NAV. I though that was pretty cool.

OP - car looks wonderful, congrats.
Question: Would you say the color balance in those photos is good, showing the MG color tones properly? I love the slight steely-blue overtones I'm seeing in your shots, much prefer that to a neutral grey... They didn't have any MG BMWs at our car show so I am trying to get a better sense of it. |

Congrats on your new ride! Nice color choice, too!
I'm gonna have to try that 3-D view option in the GPS Nav - looks really cool in your photos. I'm also going to download that app you mentioned. Loving this car!

I did that drive between San Diego and Indio just a few months ago. It's a great route! Congrats on the car, looks wonderful. Amazing they had a 6MT on the lot.

Nice looking car. Congrats! Looks like an awesome drive back.
Re: tint, there are many kinds of tint, ceramic and metallic being just two. I've had ceramic tint on my car with no issues, but dye based tints will work just fine for much less. Throwing $400+ on ceramic tints may be foolish to some, especially on a leased vehicle. I did it for mine and I love it. Ceramic tint on the front windshield cuts the heat dramatically. If you are going for a very dark tint, a dye based tint will work for the back and sides just fine. |

Got lucky on that one, though I wasn't specifically looking for a 6MT, auto would have been ok too I thought though now I'm super glad I went with the manual.
