Purchase a used 1M or wait for the M2
Given an opportunity, would you purchase a used 1M for $60,000 with approximately 13,000 miles and the unknowns that come with a used vehicle or would you wait for the possible M2 to arrive with the unknown engine, steering, etc. but no previous drivers tearing it up? I am trying to decide on exactly that and have only a day or so to pull the trigger before the dealer sells to another prospect. Thanks for any input.

Personally.... I'm all about the 2. The 1M is amazing and I've only driven one... but... I personally just love the way the 2 series looks SOO much better. I'm waiting on an M2 myself.

Can't bring myself to pay the premium over sticker of the 1M. I'd consider a TT-RS at that price, or any number of slightly older, more exotic things.

Honestly the funny thing is the overall True Cost would be cheaper to buy a 1M. all other "normal" BMWs depreciate 40-50% in 3 years. A 1M won't depreciate that much. Especially if you have a fully loaded one. |

M2.
I'm sure price on the 1M will drop once the M2 comes into play. The price on it now is just ridiculous. Idk who is paying for price tags like that. The M2 is going to be much better than the 1M. Why wouldn't it be? The whole point of coming out with newer generations is to make it better than the previous. Or am I missing something? I believe BMW is really going to focus on the M2 and make it a fantastic car and the start of something new. |

Just b.c it is a newer generation and better doesn't mean that what dictates Residual value. Im not doubting that the M2 will be better. It probably will be in almost every way. BUT there are only 740 1Ms. 240ish in Valencia orange. The rareness of the car is what keeps it's value. So for the person who looks at overall cost (Me), it's cheaper to buy/own/drive a 1M for 2-3 years than a comparable car. I am selling my 1M right now actually. I have a buyer at $57k. I paid $56k + Tax. So it roughly cost me $5k to own this car for over 2 years. Show me another bmw i could have done that with. |

Having owned an earlier M Coupe that held it's value extremely well, but there certainly comes a point where that inflated value corrects itself very quickly, and I think the M2 release will likely represent that point for the 1M Coupe. |

TT-RS is a true sportscar, it has an eco-car layout (i.e. transverse engine) - applies also for EVO, A AMG and any other transverse mounted engine "sportscar". |

that doesn't mean shit. some would say a true sportscar needs rwd. not a mechanical awd that does the driving for you. Thats why in most reviews the 1M beats the TT-RS

They sold way more tt-rs's. It's not as special. Thats why they are selling for less. they don't hold their value as well as the 1M. also have you driven a tt-rs? I have. It doesn't compare. the 1M is better on the track and better as a DD. The TT-RS is horrible as a DD |

M2
I've been going through the Indiviudal Colour palate over Christmas working out my special colour combo. It will be something worth waiting for. DCT, CCB, Carbon Trim.... So excited. The 1M has already depreciated about 20-30% in Australia depending on year and kms. $60kUS sounds new M3 price?? I'd wait for the M2. |
