Not the same car making that noise. There's a car driving by the camera while he's zoomed in on the M2.

Does sound more s55 than n55... Which would be awesome. Especially because of all the mods from the m3/4 that would already hopefully be available upon release.

Hilarious.
It's the same car as a m3 m4 with shorter wheelbase. It's prob closer to what a real m3 should feel like in terms of dynamics and size. BMW has lost me. Same engine everywhere. What's the point. Who cares. I have a m3. I have m4. I have m2. I have 135m. I have 1m. I have m1. I have x135 m pack!!! It's perfect. Everyone feels special no matter what they got. |

I doubt you will see any N/A engines in the future. Forced induction allows smaller engines, better gas mileage, etc. Like it or not, N/A engines are a dying breed.

You are very late to the party on this. Look around and see what other manufacturers are doing. They are all going to turbo motors for the same reason. Buick. FORD ( note that even their trucks are using turbo Sixes now!), Ferrarri California and 458 are going twin turbo... , the next Porsche boxster will be a turbo.... Etc. See: corporate average fuel economy. Aka. CAFE in US. http://www.nhtsa.gov/Laws+&+Regulati...16:+Final+Rule http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corpora...e_Fuel_Economy Also see emissions requirements for Europe. Turbo motors are more fuel efficient and can produce more power with less emissions than an NA Motor. Reduced emissions and better fuel economy is the ENTIRE reason that BMW began producing an N55 vs the N54.. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 09-11-2014 at 03:50 PM.. |

Why are we even having a discussion about whether it will be an N55 or not? There is PLENTY of info on here that confirms it will be an uprated version of the N55, that will also go in the X4 MPA.
It will not have a 4 pot. It will not have an NA I6. It will not have a detuned S55. It will not have a V10. Simple as that. What I did wish is that they would have brought a 1 series hatchback, but with a 2er face, and made a proper M version of that (uprated N55 would be fine). I'd go literally put a deposit on that right now.

That doesn't sound like an s55 at all actually; truly sounds like an n55...though there isn't much audio to go off of here.

Looks sick! But IMO, if they don't throw a CFRP roof on there like the other M cars, I wouldn't even consider buying one.

I was joking. The n55 actually sounds pretty good IRL....dont know whats going on in this video but remember the early videos of the M4 and how it didnt really sound all that great? I think its way too early to judge...

I wasn't even thinking it sounds bad; just not like an S55 IMO.

I can't wait for this car! I regret not believing in a 1M when the rumors stirred and I ended up buying a 135i.... Don't get me wrong, I love my 135i. I will likely hold onto the damn thing till it dies and just garage it so I can reminisce of the awesome times I've had in it... But, from this video the "M2" sounds better than the new M3/4. I also think it has the potential to look better, yes subjective, but I don't force these views down other peoples throats considering the great look of the new M3/4. I'm just looking forward to a light, nimble, affordable car for the "average young professional" like me.
