I updated to 9/1/2017 version. Did the same change, and it works still. So your doing it wrong, or your editing the wrong file.
You will not find the file in your install files, those are just used for install. The installer puts it in your profile directory/AppData/Apps/2.0/ Then the directories are random, you need to use the taskmgr method to find the right folder |

Switched Passive Delete "off" in the mobile app. All good now, no codes for over a week. Even before that I'd only get one every other day, usually when cruising during warm up...

about to go for state inspection. Once the CEL is cleared are you taking any other steps to get sensors to "ready"? As an example, in this thread the advice is to switch to Map 0 and drive for 100 miles http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1171953

So when I enable (check mark the box) passive delete on the jb4 computer interface, do i have to go into the map settings on the cars gauge and enable it aswell through the car (for n20 ewg, tach on 4 setting and rpm on 1k). Just slightly confused.
Thanks for you sharing btw! |

Just do it through the windows interface or android interface.. This is where it is blocked in the US. On the n55 EWG F series we don't have passive-delete option on the MPH/TACH options.
passive-delete on, and save settings. Done! |

Guys. This deletes all CEL right?
What if it throws a missfire and you wont see it? I would leave it and just read the CEL, the "cat not efficiant" dont come too often.. |

Yes it periodically clears all codes. Then the CEL's are suppressed it is not a good solution if you have problems It's a misunderstood feature. If you are trying to suppress cat codes, look at CAT specific solutions, thread in o2 simulators, or active plug in suppressors.

The codes that were coming up were different for me. More along the lines of “aftermarket intake/dp detected”?

For those of us with Rev 3 and iOS on the most recent software/firmware, I was able to restore the passive delete feature by deleting the JB4 app and connecting the phone to a VPN to any country other than the US (I just used Canada). I used Private Internet Access for the VPN. They have an iOS app with makes configuring the phone as easy as an on/off switch. Once the VPN is connected, redownload the JB4 app. When it asks to use location service, just say no and log in as normal. Go to your WMI settings and the Restore Passive Delete feature can be enabled.
If you change these settings often, you'll need to use the VPN every time. Otherwise if you're like me and just change maps once in a while, your WMI settings will never update unless you hit the save button. This has been working for me so far. This is a pretty easy solution for those of us that use iOS and bluetooth or those who don't want to deal with hacking the app. |

If I purchased my JB4 from BMS directly this year in April, do I need to update the firmware? what benefit/change does the update make?
I couldn't find any info on the web site, thanks for answering. |

Their thread on N54tuning.com shows the update dates, and what was associated to it.. In the last 12 months it's been mostly small tweaks, but if you have the BT setup, it only takes 2 mins to update..
