I wonder... since it says M6 (gear) at about 240km/h .......where does the 7th and 8th come in play? I guess no where since it's really for fuel economy use and 6th is a 1:1 ratio.

it's certainly quick, my 340i is capable of getting me into trouble very easily. the 40i is a great engine

I test drove one today, the acceleration is nice but the stopping power is far from impressive. I would personally not want to drive a car in those speeds without full confidence in the brakes.

Don't think BMW M has ever released a new engine in their cars during a life cycle. Would devalue the others. Next gen m2 most certainly will have an engine based off of the b58 though!

They should have used the B58 from the get go. It really is a nice upgrade from the N55. The N55 is good but the B58 is better.

E34 M5, E36 M3, E36/8 M Coupe had engine changes, it's normal.

Thats pretty sick. I feel like my 340i with MPPSK accelerates almost as fast. Weighs more of course but I'm interested to see how far they will take the B58 in the upcoming M340i.

BTW, here in the states, an M2 is $1,525 more than a comparable 240i.

Here in UK - we are seeing 20% + discounts on mx40i MRRP and zero off M2MRRP
