hmmm It is the latest software, and they provide all the updates. Also they gave me all the instruction and support for codding.

If they already provided it to you, and they provide Free updates, then you already have what you need.

I now understand that the tool is only usable if I do "read" my DE.fsc via an ENEt cable ?

& what tool do use those guys use that only need the VIN ?
(clearly I would like to avoid send my VIN to an unknown person)

Is there a way to avoid touching the car an buyin the cable ?

No. Ones that make code from VIN simply use VIN to get same DE File from BMW Server. DE File needed no matter what.

There is nothing special about your VIN nor any reason to be secretive about it. I doubt you hide your VIN plate on car dashboard, so it is visible in public every day.

Access to the DE file is not available for a simple owner I assume ?
(or is the only way to avoid buying a cable to become somewhat attached to a BMW car dealer ;-))

Hi guys.

New to this, having had my 220d Sport for 2 years now, I have finally started to have a look at updating the navigation.

Just wanted to check a couple of things before I attempt this, so I do not screw things up.

As i understand it, I can email dracon for the newest version of the maps? I have looked on torrent websites but cannot find any. I have seen some websites out there selling them for £17 without FSC code.

With regards to the maps, my current version of navigation is Road Map Europe Route 2014-1. I assume i would need the same but the 2017-1 version. I have confused myself a little reading all the pages on this thread with regards to versions of map, so just wanted to check.

I have ordered an ethernet cable and will attempt to get my FSC code via the helpful instructions on the first page of this thread. I do not appear to have a USB port in my glove box, just in the center console under arm rest. I assume I connect via this?
