I could never find the right mounting. It would be good for a few hours and then start chirping again. I got so frustrated I took it off. I have a platypus here but I need the extension arm. They claim it will work properly. Hopefully so. If not I will either live with thr tickets for figure out another mounting option

My dealer said they are not drilling into the bumper. They're going to mount it in the middle where it typically goes by using automotive grade double sided 3m tape. Has anyone tried that option?

The Brits do it.

I'll send some detailed pictures of my exact positioning and angles if you are interested. It has been 2 days since a false beep.

I bought this foam, worse case I can use it on my PC as it is intended.
Sound Dampening Foam

I originally looked into dynamat and other similar items but realized they are more for low frequency vibrations and rattles.

The foam is adhesive backed, and originally I went overboard and covered the entire back of the plate mount. I have since cut a lot of that extra out, and kudos to US Millworks as I have gone to town scraping the old adhesive off and the finish looks nearly brand new still. Here is how it currently looks, and a lot more of the foam could be removed. If you plan on doing this you only need a 1-2" strip on the bottom left and the top right, where the PDC sensors are.

Here are pictures from the top and front, it looks like it is touching the bumper, but the foam I removed from the middle allows a small gap.

Here is the result of the sensors as it currently sits, the even green indicating the front wall of my garage.

Overall I would say it helps, I went from the sensors setting of 1 in 10 times, to having it go off maybe 3-4 times total in the 3+ months I have the foam on there, and those may have been other objects setting it off. It is not a 100% guarantee, it won't turn your BMW into knight rider. I did test it by placing an upright 2x4 in front of the car and then placing foam around it, and it did reduce the sensor feedback in car.
I have my plate in the same position as yours and used foam strips the ones used between a campershell and the bed of a pickup truck, cut and stacked next to each other covering 2/3 of the back side and no beep so far for the last month. Got the roll at Lowe's (http://www.lowes.com/pd/M-D-Building...rstrip/1096095) Hope this help for others.

This is what my foam cutout looked like.

Ignore the second square cutout. I traced and cut the hole for the mount and then quickly realized I did it backwards from the adhesive side. It improved my statistics quite a bit, but not perfect. (Maybe 70% reduction)

Still working? My second attempt has failed thus far. The only thing i've been successful at is putting some scratches on it

If it's still working post some pics

Full disclosure, it was having a small fit backing out of the garage Monday after a hard driving session showing off to my cousin. Not a peep prior or since so I'm still happy. My driveway is relatively steep and that is where it always used to go off with the first installation. I'm convinced the sensors adjust based on the pitch of the car.

I may have found the sweet spot. two days and working. Follow the contour of the bumper. Top slightly tilted in. .06 off level.

Mine too. And in the process I scratched the bumper. Luckily with the plate it's hidden. But honest to Christ this frustrated me to no end since it's sold as a Pdc version. But I had to park on the street last night and wanted it on. So I just put it on and I got lucky the first time is finding the spot. I took pics and used a level on my phone so if I need to find to again I have a reference

Mind sharing the photos? Here's how I have mine now, and it's the "quick" release version. Only pic I have at the moment, unfortunately..

I'm honestly at the point where I am willing to deal with a ticket, more than having to listen to the beeping. I went about 5 months this year without having it on, and got lucky. A ticket for no front plate is $70, and this bracket was almost $200 (cdn) to my door. I may entertain the 3M route or a strong magnet and just slap it where it belongs. Would look better too IMO, lol

Here a ton of cars don't have front plates. My guess would be at least 10%. A lot are either super high end luxury cars like bentleys or s classes or super cars/exotics. When you see an "enthisuast" they almost always have one. My guess is to not invite a cop too pull them over.

You can do it provided you never park on the street. But I do when I go out to the bars. And if there are meters they will ticket you. Also if you get pulled over they will check and ticket. I got several in my old car and just got fed up worrying. But I'm like you. The beeps are too much. I would either not run one and test my luck or drill. I think the ticket here is $50. The bracket was less than $100. And I don't cringe when I walk up to my car looking for a ticket. And honestly I like the look of the tow hook plate

It won't work with that frame you have. Take that off and you should be fine

Reviving this thread...I finally came up with a fix that works. Some folks have used sound absorbing material on the backside of the bracket with good results. I?m not sure who posted it but the constant going off of the sensors is definitely caused by vibration.

Rather than buy a sheet of sound deadening pad I looked around the house for some weatherstripping or anything else I could use. Well I found a roll of Frost King weatherstripping - you know the gray foam that you can use to seal door jambs. Applied it in strips on the back side of the bracket and it worked like a charm.

It actually took a few days for me to realize the the sensors weren?t going off constantly. I never realized how quiet the car is without the PDC going off like crazy.
