Exactly what does "pre ordered in system" mean? Do you mean the dealer's own computer system? If you mean the ordering system that the dealers use to place orders with the factory, with past new models that system opened up more or less simultaneously to the Dealer Order Guides being published. I have not heard of those being given to the dealers yet (typically someone gets a hold of one, perhaps illicitly, and posts it on this site almost immediately). But one would think we will be seeing Dealer Order Guides soon (perhaps without final pricing at first) as they are going to start producing verts for customer test drives in November and filling customer orders in January. So if they are going to build customer orders in January, one would think we will see Dealer Order Guides within the next few weeks if it's anything like the timing we have seen in the past. Just curious, what is your agreement with the dealer regarding price?

Means I sat with dealer on the computer we placed an order - picked the colors and the options including specfic packages. A build date was not given. One week ago there was nothing in their system to allow an order.

Who is your dealer? He told you he could access the factory ordering system and see what colors and options are available? What options did you order and what price did you agree on? Yesterday I was at Prestige BMW here in NJ (which is just down the street from BMWUSA's headquarters, not that it means anything), and they told me while they do expect the colors and options to mirror those available on the coupe, nothing was confirmed from BMWUSA yet and that the factory ordering system would not accept convertible orders for customer delivery yet. It's typical for the factory to take several days or longer to confirm an order and give an estimated build date.

They did not tell me but I sat and watched them order on screen and we clicked and picked each option - glacier silver/ coral red. I did not keep order sheet but tech package, harmon, package that had back up camera and park distance control. It asked if we wanted all season tires instead of standard performance and we did not click. There was no pricing and there is no order number. It is the same system dealers use to place an order when they do not have an allocation. It just sits there until an allocation opens up and then it is placed. There is usually a few weeks or more after the allocation is given before the order is frozen with no ability to change. Tell your dealer to sign on and look. Hope that helps!

just checked and the m235 convertible configurator is up and running on the UK BMW web site -- should be on the US web site shortly based upon prior roll outs.

Looked on BMWUK and it looks really nice. Seems like it's going to a really nice car and there are some amazing colors to choose from.
I just wish it had a hard top. I'm not a big fan of soft top convertibles. |

Nelson, when is Week 49? I don't get it. Three dealers here are telling me they can't place an order yet as they don't have have the final details on options and options pricing. How did you spec yours and what price did you agree to?

That's exactly what I have been told as well, when I call BMW Canada, they tell me you "can't even build one yet" so if you can't build one- how do you order one? My thought's are after the Motor Show in Los Angeles you should be able to build and order.

I'm wondering exactly what Nelson is talking about. He says his car is to be built Week 49 (I assume that's somewhere around 12/10), but I read elsewhere that at that point they will be building cars solely for dealer test drives. And when I asked him about pricing several days ago, he did not answer the question. Not that he's required to, but I wonder why he would not share that. I guess it could that his dealer is playing games with him. Unfortunately it would not be the first time we've seen this. Nelson, can you actually go on BMW's website with your production order number and see the status of your car?

One thing he's definitely correct on though is that we should able to configure cars on the BMWUSA website very shortly given that it's been up on the UK for a couple of weeks.
