Question M235i - M Performance Exhaust

Hi All,

I've tried to search the forum for an answer but have come to no conclusion.

In short I'm just interested to see if anyone knows if the BMW M235i M Performance exhaust system has any effect on the power produced from the vehicle. I know there's obviously a change in sound but anything further than that?

Is there any change in horsepower or torques produced?

I highly doubt there is as it's just a back-box but maybe by some chance there might be. If there is, can someone direct me to the relevant information.

Thanks in advance

I don't think the exhaust does anything other than sound really.

Nothing but sound.

If you replaced the midpipe/resonator, you would get an increase. Just the muffler gives no increase whatsoever.

If you take out the resonator and have the MPE, will it sound like pants? Drone and bad sound altogether?

If it's just sound, might as well code in M2 active noise instead of m235i

I don't know the weights but it's lighter that's a plus.

Power comes when you go catless. If anything, the response of the throttle could of have improved with the M performance exhaust.

Catless OR catted. Price is the main difference between the two.

I just got the fabspeed sport cat and the gains were huge.

Wow, you weren't kidding:

"BMW M235i (F22) Sport Cat Downpipe

Inject new life into your M235i with a perfect high-flow catted downpipe! Genuine 200-cell HJS catalyst instantly adds a staggering 21 whp and 36 ft/lbs of torque at 3000 RPM without triggering a check engine light!"

As adding horsepower via parts upgrades goes, 21 hp for $1200.00 is extremely cheap. Plus you get the glorious sound for free.
