JB4 trouble WaterF = 0
I took my car back to the 1/4 mile this weeked. The air density was much better and the car was 30 pounds lighter. The car was 1/2 second and 3 mph slower consistantly. The 60 ft times were almost identical to the last time i went out.
The car is obviously down on power so today i connected the data logging cable. I took the car for a short drive in map 5. The target boost was never higher than about 9 psi and the boost was about the same. The oil temp was in the 220s but the coolant temp alway showed 0. Any ideas? |

Hmm. It's not on the tune site? Have you tried to uninstall/reinstall

This thread has the latest firmware for JB4 F-series EWG OBDII. Currently at build 11. Filename is N55_FSERIES_OBDII_EWG_11.hex Check everything Try USB cable direct first into a known working PC.. If that works move on to installing the bluetooth adapter, and to a mobile device second.. There is no easy answer. |

Thanks Zip! I did find that but it won't save as a hex file.
I tried loading the EWG 11 but it didn't work. Still show firmware something like 10/8//5. Still doesn't show coollant temp. Now I'm getting a drivetrain error. This is great! |

The 60ft time where all about 2.0 The oxygen density the frist day was about 2300ft and the second day it was just under 1000ft. The car was about 30lbs lighter on fuel the 2nd day. Clearly the car should have been faster the 2nd day. The best time from the 1st day was 13.37 @ 102. On the 2nd day the car ran consistant 13.8 at 99 - 100. F23 with JB4 & AFE Clearly somethings wrong. |

I just managed to update the firmware to EWG 11. Coolant temp is working now. I'm going to leave it in map 4 and do some logging, if that seems ok I'll start playing with map 1 & 5.

Target boost is now stuck on 0. Reported boost is about 9lbs.
Something is still wrong. I will check for fault codes after work. Are there some user setting that I need to adjust? |

I used to avidly race at the strip years ago and I sometimes saw swings of ~0.3 seconds and 2-3mph with no changes to the car, same track, similar 60', and similar DA conditions. Sometimes one lane was far quicker and faster than the other ON THE SAME DAY. It frustrated the hell out of me. With all the electronic wizardy with these cars, I would think the car would throw CELs if it was not operating at peak efficiency. Your issues are also why I'm going with the far more expensive Dinan Stage 2 option vs anything from BMS. it just seems so problematic and weird on certain cars. Lastly, boost is dependent on conditions and is targeted by DME. When it's warmer out, you typically see higher boost because the air density is lower thus more boost is needed to cram the requested oxygen in to meet targeted power. My M235 is stock and I typically see ~8-9 psi in sub 50 degree conditions and 10-11 psi in 60+ degree conditions. |

Thanks for the help, no one else is even trying. I know that track times vary from day to day. I've been racing decades. Burn my own chips, edit tunes, socket chip, swap cams, change torque converters, even converted my Mitsubishi Spyder to AWD. Software really gives me a headache though, such a steep learning curve. My other turbo cars never had a loss of performance like this unless something was not right. I did buy the fuel from a different station! |

JB4 = fail
I'm getting a drivetrain malfunction & reduced power fault, but no codes.
The car jerks a couple of times at about 35mph light cruse and I get the fault. Any ideas? Maybe I loaded the wrong firmware? |

Took the car for another test drive, got 2 miles from the house and I had 3 drivetrain errors. Unpluged the OBD2 connector and the laptop and the car drives fine.

Zip,
I did exactly that 6 hours ago, so far no response. Hopefully he will get back with me tomorrow. Absolutely no respones on N54tech. You would think someone would offer some advise. I did take the car out for a drive with the OBD2 cable unpluged. It seemed to run fine other than a few harsh shifts. |

The N54tech support area is where you post for advice. Maybe your thread was missed, never hurts to bump it if that is the case.
If you bought the system new you can also get email support, jon@burgertuning.com is the primary contact for that. Mike |

If the car runs fine with it unplugged, is it possible the board itself is defective?
