Hi,
In pursuit of more camber but using OEM parts has anyone got anymore info on use of F8x M3/M4 LCA and TS on F2x series front suspension to push bottom of hub carrier further outwards ? Attached photo of underside of new M3 - looks v similar..... Comments/advice most welcome.....

Looking at Realoem, subframes between F2x and F8x are different and F8x LCA / TS are rubber bushed as opposed to hydraulic for F2x. Same as Exx chassis upgrade.
Would need to see the components side by side to see to measure if bush housings are same size [differing subframe may not matter] and visually check if their geometry are essentially the same albeit the F8x LCA and TS are slightly longer than their F2x equivalents. Who's going to volunteer ?? Where's Harold at HPA on whether this upgrade is viable and worthwhile ???

My parts department quoted me $871 to get the parts for comparison, said they'd take 'em back if they don't fit, but want to do the test fitting in their shop.
There aren't many of the M3/4 control arms in the world, just a handful in Germany, so lead time is 3-4 weeks. |

My quote was for just the control arms:
31122284529 31122284530 31122284531 31122284532 Some screwing around with headlight levelers will also be required. I'm not sure whether I'm going to do it or wait for an enterprising shop. |

Unfortunately our 228i is out getting wrapped at the moment but when it comes back I'll be sure to compare it to our M4 and get measurements.

Sorry for the delay guys. The 228i back at the shop but now the M4 is out at SEMA. When it comes back I'll get them compared.

With busy schedules for both cars, we haven't had a chance to pull the M4 arms off and fit them to the 2-series yet. When we do, the plan is to do a full write-up and measure the change of camber etc.
So far, all I have is the rough measurement of the M4 arms being approx 1/2" longer. This should equate to about 1 degree of additional camber. |

Ok, we finally have some lift time scheduled for this project on Thursday. I'll try and post it up right away once we get it done. Thanks for the patience!

Alright guys thanks for the patience on this project. We finally found some time to get both our 228i and M4 project cars up on the lift at the same time to swap the front lower control arms to test fitment and measure the camber change that can be had by using the M3/M4 part on the standard F22 or F30 chassis. Check out the full write-up here:
http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1079766 Let me know if I can answer any questions. It is as expected, a simple bolt in swap and adds about 1.2 degrees of camber to the front. |
