Last time I drove a 991 I was pretty shocked at the smoothness of the ride. Actually rides better than my 135i with PS.

The biggest weakness of the Cayman styling is the slab sides. 911 has bulging hips and the Cayman is just flat. The car is the right size though.
I agree... The 911 hips makes the look of the car. I wish the Cayman fenders were a little wider, but I am sure Porsche avoided that on purpose.

All cars (except for maybe the Ariel Atom lol) are gaining those modern features, so yes, the previous Caymans were a little more raw.

I like the looks of the GT3 much more, but hopefully you and other prospective GT4 owners will not have the repeated engine problems of the GT3. A second engine recall was announced yesterday:

Thanks for the clarification... I agree, I love the way the GT3 looks and feels it edges the GT4 out in that category as well. Those wide hips on the GT3 add so much to the car. I am getting a GT4, but also believe the 911 is the better looking platform. The GT3RS is awesome to behold.

Wow, that is terrible for those GT3 owners! Although it only affects 12 cars. Four of which are Nürburgring taxis.

Honestly, if I heard any craziness going on with the GT4 engines, I will probably go M4 or M2. But the GT4 engine is a detuned Carrera engine, so thinking we should be fine.

I think the Cayman looks fantastic, but there are some feminine looking cars out there, for lack of better term.

I see this white AMG SLK55 often and I don't care if it's AMG, it looks too cute to be considered a manly car. An Eos is pretty feminine, as is the Beetle. Basically smaller cars with lots of curves. Most P cars could fit that mold, as well as the 2 series, and Audi S4.

Not a very good DD. The problem isn't the space. The car is just too noisy, stiff, and low to be a good DD. Simply too fatiguing, and too much of a headache worrying about scraping, vandalism, etc. It's great for fun drives when you're in the mood for that. Not so good for routine driving, commutes, errands, etc. Kind of a pain to get in and out of as well, and not all that comfortable in general. It's a true sports car, and definitely a tool optimized for that kind of experience, and not so much for other things.

I think a Cayman with PASM would be comparable to the 370Z. It depends on what you are used to. To me the PASM Cayman rides very smoothly and has excellent yet comfortable damping.

Yes, compared to something like a 3-series, it is more noisy.

I don't know excactly why, but the road noise is unusual loud in the Cayman. This can be annoying. An M235i is a lot quieter, even the Boxster with closed top is somewhat quieter.
The same with the 997 models, a lot of road noise. For a weekend car no prob, but for daily driver????

So the M2 is my favorite next car as a sporty daily driver. As weekend toy -> Porsche no doubt.
The 4 series will go. A big disapointing. Steering and overall feel in the car is near nothing.

M2 with a tune will serve both purposes for me.

It's because the Cayman is a hatchback - this makes the noise from the rear of the car more noticeable.

The noise is ok IMHO, not too loud I would say, esspecialy withe the 7 speed PDK it`s a perfect daily driver !

I drive the Cayman GTS now as a dd, I`m selling the the 1M, I have to make room for the M2.

Sound, suspension, comfort, music, storage, it is all there for your convenience

Yes, it`s a head turner alright and it`s a 2 seater only, but that comes with the territory of a sportscar, you want a sportscar, you`ll get one IMHO

Not defensive - I was just asking.

The E92, for example, looks like melted soap to me - but I am sure you love yours.

Same here, E92 M3 was not for me. I did own a 987.2 and 981, liked somethings better on the 987 and other things better on the 981.

I hope I have that problem someday, where I am comparing the small complaints with multiple P cars.
