What I want to know if anyone knows. Is why in some photos the front inlets have some sort of slat like the 135i but in others it has nothing? Is it because the car is made for a different country?

Has slat.

Exactly, this is the German version with slats.

Based on climate. Hotter zones do not get the slates to improve air flow / cooling.

Where did you get this pic? I would love to see it from other angles in this light...and I actually like the look from the front at this angle without the slats (I think they look good when they're on the car, but we don't get them in the US).

There is some sort of temperature-related reasoning behind whether you get the slats or not. I can't remember the details, but I am pretty sure that's why...

What kind of coolers/radiators are behind the slats under lights?

I will have EU ver. with fully slats but i like US ver. with different empty slats.

Maybe iam little bit crazy detailist, but what may be the difference in the aerodynamics of the car with empty or full slats - what do u think, what is better?
And my second question is what kind of coolant will have better cooling with US ver. with "empty" slats?

I hope i'll be often on the Nordschleife and wanna have best option for life of my engine etc...

Change of slats will be my first mod(if it will be better for car) and paddles from M4 will be the second one

My pic from WELT: EU ver of "fully" slats

I agree the car probably looks better w/o the slats, although c/b costly to remove them and get new grill work? Cost? Also, the short paddle shifters have got to go. How much would it cost to replace w M3/M4 shifters at a Cdn dealer? Help

Just pointing out that pics with the airblades show that the vents are not functional at all. They are purely decorative and show the area blocked off with a grill like pattern on top of the surface. On the US spec models you can clearly see that these are vents with a grill in front of them. At least that's what I can tell from the picts.

Being functional, I hope that we get the US spec models in Canada

yeah i noticed that they were completely different and on US models they were vents. Interesting that the M235i racing was developed with slats then and doesnt need this extra cooling.

I seem to remember a blurb somewhere that on the M235i the left/right lower vents were open to allow air cooling of the automatic transmission.

So the "design" of the front took into account that more automatics would be ordered and produced????

I remember this because I actually like the look of fog lights on a car, and the writer made the comment that owners with manual transmissions might opt to add after market fog lights.

Without the F22 being up on RealOEM, it's a little hard to verify exactly what goes where, but it appears on a US N55 F32 that the following get put in the front:
  • Center - motor radiator and turbo intercooler
  • Right vent - transmission heat exchanger and engine oil cooler
  • left vent - auxiliary radiator

US N55 F32:
http://realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?mo...76&hg=17&fg=05

Note that the F21 does not show an auxiliary radiator:
http://realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?mo...48&hg=17&fg=05

So I assume the blanking plate on the left intake from an EU car above signifies that ROW cars do not get the secondary radiator, only what BMW deems "hot climate" cars.

The transmission heat exchanger appears to be standard on both transmissions and in all areas, I think it's the secondary radiator that's variable by region. Thankfully it appears that BMW has started to equip all N55 cars with an oil cooler, or at least the M135i and 435i.

I'd like to get some opinions on this. Is it me or do the wheels BMW has chosen for this look too small? This car either needs a set of 19's or set the car a little lower. I am liking the M235i but something doesn't seem right
