Is the exhaust pipe really 4 inch ID? Where can one buy that size? Local auto shops do not sell that big of a size.

*correction... it is not a 4" pipe. It is right around 3 1/4" piping*

It's actually right at 3" all the way back to rear muffler--that is, on my M235.

I am doing a delete Tuesday am. Would imagine its same on 228i as well...can't imagine it different. Hope that helps some.

Cool thanks for the info. Post pics and video when your done. Love to see how you run the pipe. And how it sounds on an m235i.

I have an M235i bmw performance exhaust in stock here at the shop. Here are some quick pics I took of the piping diameter. Don't have a measure tape on hand but I used one of my business cards to give you guys an idea. Hope this clears up some questions.

Is there any way the m235i performance exhaust would fit onto a m sport 228i with the m235i m performance rear diffuser?

A dollar bill is 6 inches long. You can use that to get a better idea of its width

From the looks of it... it does seem like the M235i exhaust would be a direct cut and clamp onto your 228i. I'll try to get one of our 235s up on a lift and take pics of the exhaust system.

Here are the pics as promised... From the looks of it, you should be able to fit the m235i exhaust on a 228i. If you compare the underside of my 228 with that of the 235, all the piping looks exactly the same.

THat is awesome. Thank you for taking the time and taking a look. So to confirm, the M Performance exhaust would indeed fit on the 228i M Sport with the performance diffuser, correct? If that is the case, I want to order both things right away. Any thoughts?

No problem!!

Based on all the measurements, it will be a direct cut and clamp setup just like any other BMW Performance exhaust system

I'm thinking about doing a muffler delete on my 228. How much does it usually run? I've never done anything like this before and really dont want to end up over paying. Thanks!

I spent about $45 on each tip and $150 in labor to get that installed plus the price of the diffuser.

That's so awesome! I want to do the same thing, I'm just worried about the sensors and my warranty for my car going void.

I'm still considering and planning to fit the m235 performance muffler onto my 228i. For anyone thinking about doing it, just be aware that the 228i pipe clamp appears to be 75mm and the 235 around 80mm, so you will probably need to have a muffler shop or someone do a sleeve. I'll keep you posted.

I didn't realize it was that easy to swap on a M235i rear valence onto a 228i!

Yes it's really easy to swap diffusers. there is a total of about 6 hex bolts and the rest are clips that just pop right out. We have these in stock and ready to ship out!

Alright addicts,

Placed my order for the m235i M Performance muffler/w tips and diffuser. Should be here tomorrow.
Will be getting the diffuser painted over the weekend if everything goes well time wise and hope to get the muffler fitted next week sometime. I'll post some pictures next week. I hope everything goes well and will help out some of you if you are thinking about doing the same.

A quick update. Diffuser and muffler came in on Monday. Diffuser is getting painted as we speak and will be picking it up probably tomorrow. Saturday appears to be set for installation of the MPE and diffuser. More to come.
