My answer to this is not to lock the doors when driving. Locking the doors does nothing for me while I'm in the car. It's an easy change in iDrive.
Keeps you from being car-jacked.

No temp gauge.

Door handle pull too far forward to control door swing - for a couple of bucks they could have put a detent in the armrest.

Steering a little light and lifeless but better than early electric attempts.

Despite these few items, I'm very happy with the car overall.

Annoying!

What's your number one pet peeve with your 2 series?
I agree that the fuel warning is annoying. I guess you could code it out as others have said...or just push the little button at the bottom left of the speedo and the display goes back to normal.

Hardly. For that you need bullet-proof glass and armor.

What sort of range do you get as a practical matter? On my 528, the 15-gallon tank gives me 300 miles of city driving before I need to top up. I would think the 13.7 gallons in the 228 would be about the same. In a 235, of course, it woudl be a different story entirely.

I think that's right. But short of that, when you stop and shut the car off, the airbags don't go off, and you have to unlock the doors yourself if you've locked them.

People like having their doors automatically locked because they think (a) that deters carjackers, and (b) the locks keep the doors from flying open in an accident. I just don't think either of those things is true as a general rule. All the same, BMW's system of a double-pull to open a locked door is pretty silly, I agree.

THIS.

Everything else in the car is modern and sleek then you have this Atari inspired compass readout in the rear view mirror. I didn't see a way to code it out on the F22 code list but I may have overlooked it.

To jump in here, with my 228i I get about 275 miles between fills with a mix of suburban and freeway driving. That's an 11+ gallon fill done before the low fuel light comes on. It's more than adequate to me.

No mirror compass in my 528i. I miss it. Useful information, easily seen and understood. No need for improvement.

Nope. Just open your door, smack you hard in the head, pull you out on the ground, and drive your shit away.

You cannot do that with a locked door brosef.

Never mind....I just googled it. It's some kind of generational term of endearment tagged on to the end of the sentence, without a preceding comma for clarity. Any number of my English teachers are spinning in their graves!
