What brought you up to SYR? Next time you are here I'm happy to suggest some nice drives up in the Adirondacks.

Had the Dinan midpipe installed on my M240i. Love the new and improved sound. May still go with the full Dinan exhaust, but pretty pleased with just the midpipe.

Route 30 north out of Speculator. About halfway to Indian Lake, you take in the view, sigh, and say to yourself "ok, I guess New York State doesn't suck all that much".

Yes that is one of my favorites (and you also pass by 'pig rock' on the way - a local treasure). Route 10 south of Piseco Lake is also fantastic in parts, but kind of rough pavement in others.

Nice! Now get yourself a DMP if you haven't already and really get the most out of your new speakers. Big difference.

DMP? Man, there are way too many abbreviations on this forum I've no idea about

Sorry. Digital Music Player. Check out FiiO or Astell & Kern. There are a number of other options out there too but those are a couple of the more common. The FiiO X1 is nice because it has in vehicle mode (that's what I run) but you can get ones with better DACs (digital to analog converters) or amps.

To VASTLY oversimplify matters, now that you have upgraded your speakers you can only do so much with what remains from the factory. Swapping the amp is one thing but that's expensive and complicated. By adding a DMP you basically make the stock stereo as dumb as possible and outsource the digital to analog conversion to a better unit. So it's coming into the car analog and the car doesn't have a chance to degrade the quality. You just rip CDs to lossless and load them up on the DMP or buy lossless files directly from a variety of sources.

I did the Bavsound speakers first, then the ghost subs. Was happy. Adding the FiiO after that still made a huge difference.

Perhaps a dumb question. Actually, several:
1. Are the high-end DMPs really better than iPod/iPhone music players?
2. What do you use to connect these DMPs to your car?

Thank you.

Viffermike is a better resource here. Short answer yes even a $100 FiiO will sound better than an iPhone. I don'd wade into the deep end of the technical understanding pool.

You connect it with an aux cable very simple.

[QUOTE=RotorOver;21877311]Did you get them through a retailer or directly from the manufacturer in UK? DIY or did you take it to a (Patrick) in Canada. His contact info is on their website. He was very knowledgeable and helpful in helping me select the right color for my wheels. They were shipped promptly to my mechanic and he installed them in about an hour. In fact Alloygator jus going to make him the local installer for my area. Much easier with the wheel off and on the tire machine. They blended perfectly with my orbit grey rims. I had 2 road rash scrapes on the edge of the rim and these protectors covered both of them. It would have cost $300 to have the dealer repair them.

I had 2 of my orbit grey rims repaired at my dealership. Excellent job, I could not tell. $150/wheel. $450 for a new one.

Copy on the install. It looks like part of your response was lost regarding the retailer. Can you re-send? Thanks.
