OT Lotus released a Evora that is targeted toward the GT4 market. I really like the Lotus brand and I hope it can do something positive for them. They need it.

Lotus has never been any good in the retail game.

The unfortunate problem of all today's sports cars: they are too big, thus not much lighter. Supercars are almost as long a compact sedans. WTF?

There are many engineering advantages obtained by having longer and wider wheel base.

Exactly the comparison of length is a bit pointless () it's power to weight that matters along with a decent wheelbase and of course track width is vital.

We're all bimmer fans but criticising the GT4 for being too big or long to be sporting is a little odd. Agree the 2 series all round is bettered packaged with 4 seats and a decent boot, it's why I had an M235i.

On the wheelbase front the stability difference on motorways of my F10 vs F22 was immense.

to be fair that's a muscle car...it's supposed to be huge. the real shame here is how huge BMWs are now. The 5 series is like an aircraft carrier.

Porsche boss hints at Cayman GT4 RS

Could pressure encourage Porsche Motorsport to produce a new RS?
As the track-ready Porsche Cayman GT4 made its public debut at the Geneva motor show, Porsche Motorsport boss Andreas Preuninger hinted that his department might yet build a faster, lighter RS version.
The Cayman GT4 is the first Cayman model to receive the attention of Preuninger’s team, which has been responsible for each of the stripped-out 911 GT models since the original 911 GT3. Borrowing the 3.8-litre engine from the 911 Carrera S, the Cayman GT4 is the most powerful Cayman to date – but Porsche Motorsport could yet take the concept even further.
Speaking in Geneva, Preuninger said, ‘This is just the beginning of the era. I would be interested in doing a Cayman GT4 RS version, but at the moment we didn’t even talk about such a thing. If the customers call for something like this we could think about it.
We underestimated the success of the Cayman GT4, which shows that we were right with the concept. In England, within three days two years of cars were sold. It happened in Sweden, it happened in Germany…everywhere.
Preuninger also explained his decision to only offer a manual gearbox on the Cayman GT4, saying ‘We put a manual in it for good reason – to show people that we listened.’ Clearly, then, Porsche Motorsport is responsive to its customers’ demands. If enough people call for a Cayman GT4 RS, it might just happen

The US gets 600 Cayman GT4 cars. And apparently PCNA is rumored to have offered a right of first refusal to all those on the Porsche 918 Spyder VIP 'early access' program, allowing these privilege customers to secure a Cayman GT4 allocation ahead of the normal 'line' ("It is my pleasure to offer you, per your 918 Spyder VIP privileges, the opportunity to be among the first to acquire the new Cayman GT4."). PCNA offered them one week to decide and will allocate the remaining expected production (out of 600 for North America) to dealers. (source: http://rennlist.com/forums/987-981-f...an-gt4-27.html).

This is awesome for BMW AG.

BMW makes a 1M and sells 740 in a year and 4 years later people are dying for the M2.

Porsche stirs the pot with about 520 (600 less a random guess of 80 privileged 918 owned ) available GT4 just in time for the M2 to hit the market...

Which manufacturer actually wants to sell some sports cars ?
Crank up the 2 series production line. BMW AG should be ashamed if they aren't ready to move 1500-2000 M2s a year.

Just watched the commercial, anyone else think that the shot of the chap moving the PDK gear lever to the left and the flipping of paddles looks so feminine in comparison to the actual changing of gears in the GT4?
