Who's on the Elektra?

I just found out my M235i is on the Elektra and should arrive in Halifax on Dec 22. The car finished production on Nov 27 and was just loaded onto the boat on Dec 11. Anyone else on this ship?

I ordered on Civic holiday in early August 2014 and dealer said the factory was focusing on xDrive models so it'll be a Nov production. Hoping to get delivery in early January. Anyone know who to track the car once it makes landfall in Halifax? I'm in the Toronto area.

So, excellent news! The vessel is on approach to Southampton, UK, and should depart for its Atlantic crossing on Monday!

The Elektra just departed Southampton, UK a few minutes ago, bound for Halifax, Canada and is scheduled to arrive next Monday at 1pm EST. Can't wait!

The Elektra is finally on its way to port in Halifax, apparently delayed by a day. With Christmas in two days and the New Year next week, it looks like I'll be taking delivery mid-January, 2015

Hey, this is kind of a pointless Q, since you already got your car, but I'm curious - is there a reason you chose RWD vs AWD ? I ask because of 2 reasons:

1 - Since, as you mentioned, Bavaria was producing AWDs, choosing an xDrive would have led to you getting your car sooner than you got your RWD
2 - More importantly, I've heard that most Canadians go with AWD because of the winter conditions. Your delivery pics clearly show those conditions.

So, curious why you chose RWD over AWD.

Just because I live in snowy Canada doesn't mean we can't drive RWD cars here. With winter tires (and I live in a city), it's fine.

+1

I have driven rwd in conditions most people are unwilling to even leave the house without a 4wd vehicle.
