The E82 was a little pig too--I think we have hit a point where the average BMW is going to weigh at least 3300-3400 pounds without extensive use of CFRP and other weight saving technologies, which of course will drive the price up.

You can blame the health and safety people for that, but it seems that the trend is here to stay...

People also want (and I am guilty of this too) their heated seats, nice A/C and stereo, dimming mirrors, etc....all that stuff, plus the airbags and whatnot, really starts to add up. I just think these trends are part of the deal at this point...

Skewed results on an enthusiast forum. The autos will far outpace the mannies in the real world, though I wish that weren't true.

Hopefully, the configurator will be accurate by year 2.

true, i have ordered an M235i and consider myself an enthusiast but have ordered sports auto. Faster shift times than manual and hands on wheel driving seemed good to me.

I know it leaves me less "connected" but id rather have two hands "connected" to the wheel lol.

I ordered all season tires, with the expectation that I'm going to buy a set of 19s with performance tires.

My car:

M235i

- Mineral Grey
- Coral Red
- Hexagon with black high gloss
- Cold Weather
- Tech
- Premium
- Driver Assist

Going to try and get the performance exhaust, spoiler and grille, factored into the payment as well.

Are most of you guys leasing or buying??

Unless I am very much mistaken, opting for a/s removes the high-speed limiter. I'd look into that.

Unfortunately in the US, it's usually so people can text and drive at the same time.

Here's mine. It was a launch car apparently so I couldn't change any options, but I should be getting it early February (it's on the ship now, should arrive in the Baltimore port 1/28)

If I could have chosen, I would have gotten it in black probably and gotten the Drive Assistance packages and Harman Kardon.

I don't like the new england patriots either.

Just a note to everyone to be careful of the "Steptronic option". From what I the Sport Auto / Steering wheel paddles are standard. Specifying Steptronic appears to remove the sport auto / paddles. I have no idea why anyone would want to do that but it appears to be an option.

I miss my manual, until I get on I-5. Then I love my sport auto very very much.

Holding my breath for xdrive option.. I'm sure they'll introduce it eventually, but if not, it'll definitely be a deal breaker for me.

I'm constantly surprised by the praise the ZF sport auto receives. I read so many positive comments about that transmission, but I just cannot wrap my head around it. Having driven a DCT and ZF8 (sport version) back-to-back on several occasions, I really cannot understand how people think they're so similar. It's not so much the speed of the shifts as it is the responsiveness of the input. When you hit the paddle, the DCT is more responsive. I think a lot of people are fooled by the rapid shift and the "kick" that it gives you. That's not the same as responsiveness. It's fine when you're going in a straight line, but it's a pain in the ass when you're trying to execute well-timed shifts.

Driving the ZF feels like gaming on an LCD TV with bad input lag. That would ruin this car for me.
