For new 2er owners, SIRI works!

I didn't see this recently and thought I'd bring it to other new owners attention.
I just hold the speak button down and I can ask her to send texts, read received texts, find stuff, etc. I'll bet people using Android can use google now too. I do have the tech package but not extended bluetooth, if that matters.
I am busy installing spacers and cleaning the wheels inside and out in order to Rejex them. Damn it's cold outside. I can jack up the whole side of the car high enough to get both wheels off the ground by using the front jacking point. Nice.

I came across this by accident the other day and I was pleasantly surprised

I didn't know this; thanks for posting. Can't wait to test it out once I get my car.

I think that's why he specifically mentioned "new owners".

Does this work with non-tech package? Still waiting on my mostly-stripped 2, I doubt I'd use it much, but could come in handy every once in a while.

Well that's a shame. I guess I'll have to live without talking to Siri while driving

Atleast I can make and receive calls...?

You're voice activation button works with the base HU_Entry without stock enhanced Bluetooth? Because if so you are the first

I have HU_Entry on our 320i and its a dead button. It's also a dead button on my friends base 228i

He's at least the second. And, you don't have that car so why are you making your point about that button that you don't have?

I do have a 228i and the button works for me with a tech package. I also have a 320 which literally has the exact same radios, buttons, and steering wheels as the two series. Not to mention my friend has a base 228i and his button doesn't work.

So that's why I'm saying what I was saying for a car I do have and a close friend has. Why are you making the point of being a dick? I was trying to help. Maybe the person asking has some feature that's NOT BASE that lets him use it.. Either way I was trying to contribute.

Not to mention after coding multiple 2 and 3 series in my area I have not come across one base with the HU_ENTRY that had the button working unless it came with enhance BT.

I wasn't trying to be a dick in my first post I was literally saying he was the first because I have never come across one, so he would be the first I came across.

Jesus why are so many posters on this forum so aggressive. No reason. If you are so certain I'm wrong all you need to say is "hey dude I actually think it works on all M235is" then I would happily say "dope my bad, got it wrong" but instead you have to come out with some passive aggressive douchebag comment. Literally no reason.

Also OP I realized you have an M235i, maybe those cars base came with that feature/button enabled because when I come to think of it all the M235 I've coded had tech package. I hadn't come across a base one, only base 228s.

Either way sweet car! And to the guy with the stripper on order, keep us updated if your car's button works. I would gladly put my foot in my mouth if your stripper has the button that worked (not sure if the rest of the guys that it works are complete strippers or have enhanced BT like the one poster above), because it would be the first base radio that I've seen that has it which means there is another reason the m235 is that much better than the 228i!

I don't have enhanced bluethooth either and the voice botton does work for me.
I've just pressed it for 2 seconds or so and asked Siri about weather and I got response.
I was also able to dial phone number with names.
My car is 2015 228i m-sport with DHP and xenon and no other frills.

Now that's sweet! Learning new things about the 2015MY. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to call up the 2 guys I helped code, they both have 2014s, to double check. Maybe we were doing something wrong.

You are the reason I like forums. Learning new things that help build a better knowledge base.

Do you know if you have to activate Siri over Bluetooth over the iPhone's Bluetooth settings page? Or is it automatic?

I'm not aware of Siri over Bluetooth setting. You just need to have Siri enabled on your iPhone.
I also had an Android phone before and the voice button did activate Android voice command but I didn't play with it.

It works on my 2015 convertible, but not without bugs. I was on the road today, and needed to coordinate arrival with someone else who was sending me text messages. Part way through, using the voice button to activate Siri stopped working entirely. Triggering Siri from the phone worked, but it couldn't here me. (Phone clearly expected the sound over bluetooth, but the car wasn't sending it.)

Rebooting the phone did not help. Turning off the car off (all the way) then back on did not help. Leaving the car off and parked for a couple of hours fixed it, but by then it didn't matter.

All these features seem to work really well until the moment you really need them to work.

My Pandora bluetooth connection sometimes doesn't connect either, right in the middle of a song, and it is not a Pandora reception error. Strange and intermittent.
