Learn something new every day

Did you guys know that the M235i can downshift several gears with one pull of the paddle? In Manual mode you can stomp on the accelerator to hit the kick down button, pull the paddle once and it will automatically shift down several gears to the lowest safe gear to give you the most power instantly. I was playing with this on then highway today. Really impressed!

Also, I tried launch control for the first time today and was pretty impressed! I do have a question though...Is there a way to adjust the launch RPM like there is on the M3/M4? On the M3/M4 you can use the cruise control button to modify it.

The 228i 8AT does this, too. Can't wait to try it after break-in's done (about 330 miles away) ...

I had seen this feature listed for the M3/4 DCT. This is one feature I have been very interested in. I have been awaiting to see if the M235i's gearbox would do the same.

This is awesome! Now the anticipation grows stronger!

The kickdown works the same way. Our 2011 X5 has a similar transmission that can downshift multiple gears at once. Pretty sure it can do the same upshifting too. Works well.

I'm looking forward to trying it

This works in non-manual mode too. I tried it. Also it is not just the kickdown. The kickdown will grab 2 gears and then hunt it's way down to the gear you want if you keep the foot down. If you hit the kickdown and the left paddle then it will grab the lowest safe gear.

I was on the highway in comfort stuck doing 45mph in 8th, and the road opened up and it grabbed 3rd doing this. Kept the foot down and it redline shifted from there.

Learn something new every day... Man, ain't that the truth. And one of the reasons I never tire of the car. Just last week, I learned that pushing on the volume control mutes the sound. Not a big deal, but fun. And I still have much more to learn.
