Torn- E46 M3 owner looking for 2014 M235i 6MT with little luck
My E46 6MT is nearing 100K miles with 2 months and I've had little luck locating a 2014 M235i 6MT (trying to keep it below a 100K). Tons of autos out there however.
2014 model yr mostly due to pricing being more in my wheelhouse. 6MT's are hard to find in the Seattle WA area. I've widened my search to CA, OR, ID, CO, & AZ (here, Auto Trader, Cars.com, etc.). Trying to stay away from black exterior. White and Silver 1st two choices. Starting to wonder if it's time to bit the bullet and go for a 2015 "new" or slightly used. Thoughts?

Why do you need to sell before 100k miles? They don't self destruct or anything.
My buddy just sold his E46 M3 with ~220k on his and it still ran like a top. FWIW, when we ran we were very even, until I eventually started to walk him. Very similar cars with very un-similar power bands. |

In my experience, the CPO cars really don't depreciate a huge amount - plus you end up with not getting an option you really wanted or getting an option you really didn't. Find a dealer willing to work with you and order what you want. I really don't think buyers of your E46 are going to care much about 99,100 miles vs. 103,000 miles. Once you get to that point (and beyond), it's all about condition.
Best of luck. DBinOC |

It will be exceedingly difficult to find one with MT. Any reason why you can't factory order?

Good point---I have not bought a car sight unseen before and was thinking the closer the better if I wanted to check it out first.
but yea, better broaden the net a bit!

So I consigned with him at 98K on the E36. Turns out a younger ish (24 yr old) came up and paid pretty much my asking price and got a loan.

Oh, just affordability at this point. My budget just won't support a new one but I'm starting to wonder if I'm chasing the imaginary car. From what I've read here a 2015 6MT, Tech, Premium, Cold weather would be north of $50K easy? Ha.

There is a Gray 2015 6MT at BMW Seattle right now. Just got in about a week ago. I'm going to drive it. It must be loaded to the gills. They are asking 56.9K. Whoa..

I don't think nearly new cars are a good enough deal, especially with European Delivery as a possibility.

Give it sometime with the M2 coming out in the next few months, you'll get an opportunity to find CPOs once they start crossing over to them. I know several of them that are already on a waiting list.

Plus, ED will become a lot less lucrative after 1/1/2016. BMW is reportedly cutting the ED discount by 2%, which amounts to $900 on a $45K car. |

I guess what I'm getting at is that it's no where near as close in real life as the cars are on paper. I really love mine, it's the best regular series bmw I have driven by a long shot, but it is very different than a real NA high revving M car. Good luck with your search! |

Thanks again. I need to do some more research on ED process and timing. We are considering flying into Frankfurt ironically enough. Cheers.

It basically came down to a 2009-2011 M3 6MT for the same price as a 2014 M235i. I was blown away on how the E92 prices have held up.

My configuration was offered at $44k before taxes. If you trade in the E46 you could take a good chunk off the final $50k.
