Black mirror caps

Has anyone on here changed their mirror caps to black or a different color? If so, can you post pics and let me know where you got the parts aftermarket?

I keep going back and forth between black and Estoril blue for my car. I hate the silver more and more by the day, what were they thinking??

It is easy. The caps just pull off. Got my BSM caps from IND to match the rest of the car.

I felt the same way, got matching EB mirror caps and have never looked back

We may do exactly the same as we think the standard 235 ones look out of place, at least on a black car (isn't it funny that Audi does something similar on their S models). Maybe we can find a BSM 228 owner that wants 235 mirror caps and we can trade :-)

When took did European Delivery in Munich we told the BMW Delivery Specialist what we were contemplating doing, and I think he was insulted :-) It was as if he felt the M235 mirror covers were prestigious :-)

Completely agree. CF is one thing, but the plain black which came on my VO 2 just looked cheap and out of place. So many cars from many companies have used plain black trim for the lowest level models. Had the mirror caps painted to match, along with the calipers. Dealer did both before delivery. Pictures are posted elsewhere. This site isn't pic-friendly from my iPhone.

Agree that sometimes it looks cheap, but check out my 235. I think with the black grill, trim, and orbit gray wheels, the black mirrors would be more consistent.

To my eyes, painting them a matching white would be best.

IMHO silver mirror caps look fine on white/black/grey M235's, but with the other colors it doesn't go well at all.

It looks like they got it right on the M2, the pictures I've seen show that the mirror caps match the body color.

Too bad Audi did it first and it looks 100% better than BMW's way of doing it.

I agree with changing the color to either black or paint matched, I will be doing it to my Fake ///M but can't justify spending $150 to just make them black...I will probably just get it vinyl wrapped black for like $60 (which is another option to consider)

I got mine from a friends 118d who had the black caps original just swapped for the silver ones that i had with his black ones perfect :-) Cheapest mod i have ever done on a car

I had my MW M235i front end wrapped with clear, at the same time I had the mirrors wrapped in black. I washed the car and decided that the black didn't look like paint, just cheap plastic. I ripped the wrap off of the mirrors after about a week.
