sharp edges on the bottom of aluminum door trim

I have the aluminum trim in the interior of my 228i. I noticed that on the bottom of the interior door handle (the piece where you pull to close the door), the bottom edge of the trim doesn't appear to be fully snapped in and mated with the door panel. I tried to push the trim in but it doesn't seem to go in. I also notice that it is the same on both sides. Is this normal? It also feels a bit sharp where the trim is not fully in. I can try to post picture of it later. thanks
