I'm interested too. The X5M is too large for the city.

An M3 wagon would simply be a Godsend.
BMW can simply just make an M3 Wagon on order, for example audi bulids the audi rs4 avant on order only. That way bmw wont lose money on making them and not selling them, they will simply bulid one for the ones who want ones.

I suppose... but really, are M SAV/SUVs really necessary?

I'm thinking it will because the X4 40i has the N55 with the same set up as the M2. So it would make since to put an S in it.
But it's a lower model than x4

Go for the Alpina B3 Touring or B5 Touring, there you have your M3/M5 wagon.

This makes me a little sick. A damn x3 gets love from the M division before a 7 year production Z4.

Good to know.

I guess the RS4 Avant and C63 estate I keep seeing are hallucinations then.

Usable boot (trunk) on a performance car shouldn't mean a 300kg weight penalty and stilts.

Audi RS avant models have been selling fine for years.

Makes sense to who? Bean counters and share holders? Or brand loyalists? Because with this bloated lineup and confused sales force, eventually one of those aforementioned groups exits the building.

Lol! They now officially make every M car possible, except for a touring. Lol!!!! Almost like they're spiting you guys.

Next up, a solar powered and sustainable miniature ///M shopping cart for your groceries. "What? What's that? A touring M5? Don't be silly!"

Just as the M3/M4 use the S55 where the C63 uses the M177, the same is likely to hold for the X3M/X4M vs. the GLC63.

AMG doesn't have a six cylinder engine yet (the M276 V6 in the *43 models isn't an AMG-proper engine), but they are working on one (a higher performance version of the new M256 inline six). Once that is complete it is likely to start replacing the lower-output M177 applications in future generation AMG products.

Hoping this has the S55 lump in it and Individual and/or comfort seats will be an option as well......in which case count me in - and I may have to get my name down at my dealer for one now....

Only trouble is can I make my 135i last another 2-3 years in the meantime....?

This is probably the only way I'll get a X3 in the UK with a petrol engine

There's never been any M3 wagon available in Europe ..... ??

Only M5 wagon was the E61 and they hardly sold a lot of them, they only about 200 in the UK as demand just wasn't there.

Exactly.

I think far too many people on here are still not grasping that X1 and X2 are built off the UKL platfoirm with it's transverse engine layout

In fact I could see the X1M/X2M being a hybrid using the I3 engine given it's use in the i8.....??

And E34 also. But in any case your point stands - M wagons have not been offered regularly, and when they have been they are produced in very small numbers.

i might get one. i had to move from an M3 to an X5 after kids. I don't like the new X5 and its a bit too big for city driving. I could never bring myself to buy the old gen X5M because of the crappy transmission and mileage. iif this is my chance to get in an M-car, i'd appreciate it.
