M240i Extended Warranty Cost?

All,

FYI, I did some forum searches and didn't find much info.

Can anyone report back how much dealers are charging for extended warranties on the M240i at purchase? I know shopping around could result in a better deal. I am just trying to set my budget expectations before going in to purchase.

I did find several threads debating if and when to get an extended warranty, I have that information now. All I am looking for is some numbers.

Thanks guys.

Just got a quote today for my M235 coming off lease and they wanted $1,000 for 5/75 and $2,300 for 6/100. I wasn't interested because I only drive 3,500 miles a year.

TTT - Anyone else have any info they are willing to share? I am going to pick my M240i up Saturday. It would be good to have some idea of what a decent extended warranty would cost so I don't get ripped off.

Thanks!

I might have the paperwork still for this, I'll check tonight and possibly provide pics if I can find it.

Anddddd I forgot. I'll try again for tonight and hopefully have something for you.

I also don't want to get your hopes up. The contract guy was so disorganized at the time that he forgot to ask for my down payment on the car, so I may not have been given a copy of the lil brochure he showed me.

No worries. I appreciate the effort. I am probably looking to get a platinum 6yr/75k since I don't drive many miles. If they come back with anything over $2500 I will probably just turn them down and compare offers from the 4 local dealers in town. I don't even know if $2500 is even close but anything above that is out of my comfort zone without having any knowledge as to what a fair price would be.

Hope you were successful. For closure's sake, I did not get a copy of the extended warranty brochure, but I swear they exist.

I was told by my dealer on GF's car that they actually need the car in their shop physically to sell the extended warranty and/or maintenance. Is that not the case? I'll call you guys next time if I don't actually have to come out there. I find a lot of "information" coming from dealers is actually misinformation.

Wish I had known... I also thought you had to bring it into the dealer.

I haggled back and forth over the extended warranty forever. With no basis to go on, ended up at $3000 for 6yr/70k platinum on my M240i x-drive coupe. Hope it was at least a fair deal. I might dread revisiting this thread tomorrow!

Regardless, thanks for your inputs guys. Much appreciated.

Some data to share. See what is covered and whats not here:
http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...contracts.aspx

Prices For M235x (with nav & HK):

Platinum:
7yrs / 75,000 miles: 3749
7 yrs/ 100,000 miles: 4179

For Gold
7yrs / 75,000 miles: 3309
7 yrs/ 100,000 miles: 3689

I have 3.5+ years left on my warranty. But assuming I still have the car - I will be buying 7/75 Platinum in Year-4 post service date.

Why not keep your $3k or so grand in the bank or stock market and only buy the extended warranty toward the end of the 4 year warranty. That's what I did for one of my bmws.

The cost will go up quite a bit from what I hear if you wait until the end. I wanted everything locked in and done at time of purchase. It's more of a peace of mind thing knowing I don't have to worry about that down the line.

I guess the process is different in the US. Price didn't change for me and I waited until about 4 months before warranty expired.

Shame it doesn't work the same way for you. They get to bank your cash for 4 years before you'll ever need it.

hi just curious, I'm about to get into a lease for the M240 and does mr martinez do deals on the 600 dollar gold care package? I'm not very educated on the warranties but i see the extended warranties being sold, but for me being in a 3 year lease and I'm not going to buy the car at the end..my options would either be the gold or platinum care package correct? would i be able to purchase that with you guys? and what exactly does that cover thats not included in the regular lease warranty

thank you
