I got a speeding ticket from a traffic camera in Heidelberg, just when I started getting comfortable with the roads and speeds at the end of my trip

I completely forgot about the ticket and I am going to Germany later this year and don't want any problems... The ticket is all in German and I can't figure out how to pay it... Can someone translate the ticket and tell me how and where I can pay the ticket?

I would call the phone number on the ticket assuming there is one. I had to call the German motor authority for something once and they were very helpful. Everyone I've ever dealt with in Germany (I'm there all the time for work) speaks excellent English.

Skip out and never go back. I doubt you'll be extradited.

Kidding of course, as mentioned above I would just give them a call. They'll be able to work something you out.

twenty euros thats it? man here (US) we know this stuff is like "$250 and OMG HOW DARE YOUR VEHICLE EXCEED THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT BY 6MPH ARE YOU CRAZY THINK OF THE CHILDREN"

I called once about something else think it was a parking violation. They just waived it was similar nominal amount. They're usually pretty good about working with people traveling there, at least in my experience.

My neighbor is German Polizei and he said to just call the number. Being that you're stateside and it's such a small amount they will probably just waive it.

Agreed, that's ridiculously cheap. In California a speeding ticket is $35. But then you get these fees added on top:


State Penalty Assessment $100.00
County Penalty Assessment $70.00
DNA Penalty Assessment $50.00
Court Facility Construction Penalty Assessment $50.00
20% Surcharge (allowed on all tickets) $20.00
EMS Surcharge $8.00
