Driver Assistance Package
A small window left before my M235i goes into build. Thinking of adding the Driver Assistance Package and maybe the Driver Assistance Plus options.
Any thoughts from those that have these feature(s) as to there functionality and user friendliness? Thank you. |

Thanks for the inputs so far. Makes really good sense why the Driver Assistance Package has become an important tool and not just techno fluff.
Speaking of techies stuff. Additional thoughts on the Enhanced USB and Bluetooth plus Smartphone Integration? |

I could live without the PDC sensors but I'm way too used to the backup cameras, especially with awful parallel parking here in NY.
The way I look at it is with the parking sensors you have the ability to more easily squeeze the car in tight spots vs the old fashioned method of making a million small adjustments or just being dead on the nose for where the car ends. ...or just having your passenger jump out and wave you into a spot.

I got the plus, because I drive a lot. In my Jetta the navigation a lot of times has the speed limit displayed and I notice myself on unfamiliar roads looking at the map screen to see the speed limit. I really appreciated the speed limit info when I was driving the car in Germany. Everytime that thing displayed the "no speed limit" sign on the autobahn it was like a green light to go fast.

I'm going very, very light on options on the m235i that I'm in the process of ordering, BUT I am getting the basic Driver's Assistance.
It just seems like a no-brainer if you spend any amount of time parking in garages, crowded lots or on urban streets. Why would anyone not want an additional view? I totally get that we all learned to drive without it and somehow managed to survive, but who amongst us hasn't occasionally dinged a bumper that we shouldn't have? I suppose that if you live in a very rural area or something and basically never have to squeeze in or out of a tight parking place, then, yeah, okay, skip it. For the rest of us, it's well worth $900 or whatever. |

I ordered the DA basic package on my 228. However, I was very surprised that a car of this caliber did not come with blind spot monitoring as standard (which it should be) or even as an option. MUCH lesser cars have this as a standard item. Definitely disappointed, and I don't need to hear about how cars have too many nanny features. I've had blind spot monitoring in my last three cars, and it is definitely helpful, and may have even saved an accident or two (or at least avoided another's road rage).

I'm not only because its one more reason why the manufacturer can set a high benchmark for its halo products (M3 and M4). Of course premium models command premium prices too.

This. I understand the marketing, but we should be able to pay for what we want.

Regarding Hud? My wife has it on her X5 and its useless with polarized sunglasses. Because of that I personally can't muster any affinity for it
