M235i on track

Hello,

I'm planning to order a m235i and was wondering if anyone has taken this car to a road course? How does the motor do in terms of cooling? I have flashbacks to my n54 equipped 335i constantly overheating and going into limp mode. How is this car?

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

If you have a NA car with both radiators you will NEVER go into limp mode. Here in FL I've run at over 95 ambient with 100 humidity for over 20 laps at PBIR without any issues.

+1. The cooling on this car is insane. BMW did a great job for the NA M235i.

You'll be just fine. I've been running my car to bits in the SoCal desert, and it never went past 240F on oil temp.

I ran mine a little bit in ButtonWillow CA. No problem with limp mode. Did notice brake fade though. I am not an expert though might have been braking too much...

What was your brake setup? Completely stock? If so, try swapping out for some hi-temp DOT 4 fluid like Motul 600 (660) or ATE 200. Makes a big difference for not a lot of money.

Great thank you for the feedback folks! My N54 335i really left me scarred for life (kidding). Then I got a Focus ST that lasted exactly a lap and a half before both temperature needles shot off the gauge. My f30 328i was flawless on track, as is my e82 128i.

Looking forward to this M235i!!!

Yeah, the N54 in the 335i had some serious cooling issues, but those are known. For some reason BMW really sorted the N55 in the M235i out (at least for those with the extra radiator) in terms of cooling. You can really thrash the car on track and it doesn't overheat. Pretty awesome.

What kinds of oil Temps are you seeing?

Has anybody plumbed-in an oil temperature gauge to verify the ecu is reporting the data accurately?
