New m240i for a middle aged man looking for excitement

New the to 2 series forum
I already have a well optioned 2017 G30 520d which the family likes so much and resisted my efforts to trade it in.

So looking for some excitement, I went for m240i after a test drive and got blown away by the performance. I bought a new one available at the dealer with some extra options:
Estoril blue
18' M double spoke style 719M alloy wheels in jet black
Cruise Control with brake function
Media Package
Park Distance Control front and rear
Seat Heating Front
Sport Automatic Transmission
Sun Protection Glass

On account of the options and despite the discount, the list price went above the dreaded £40000.00 value and therefore I am paying extra road tax on account of this. However I love the car and it has now awakened my interest in M Cars. It is so fast and so fun.

I am truly enjoying my midlife crisis

I have attached some pictures.

I have changed the grilled to the black performance type and carbon wrapped the wing mirrors and the rear spoiler. I black wrapped the grey fin on the lower front air intakes and the car is looking quite aggressive now

Please advise of the upper end of “middle aged”. I’m trying to figure out if I’m just congratulating you or identifying with you!

I agree - I discovered race cars at the age of 60 and instantly become 16 years old again!

I stopped aging car wise at 18. Luckily my income increased more than 18 yr. old's were earning back then so I could live out my fantasies. If I were gone tomorrow I would never complain how lucky I have been to have enjoyed so many great cars.

I just washed the 235 and 911 cause I won't let car washes touch them.
A bit tired with the car cleaning and gym workout this morning. The energy of an 18 yr old did not quite come along with the car mentality.

That's the cruelest joke of all, isn't it - I blame my parents for not telling me!

Upper end is in the mind. I believe. Thanks for the beautiful comments

However conventionally middle age is 45 to 65 years at least in the UK.

I am just 45 meaning I have another 20 years of midlife crisis

I'm 74 and feel like a kid again in mine. It's only a number. Mine is Estoril too with black wheels. Great ride, have fun with it.

You are past middle age when you no longer enjoy life. At that point you are old and you can sell the car. More likely, your children will simply take away the keys.
Until then, drive on!

Great looking car and nicely optioned. You'll have fun w/ it for sure. I added a Dinan Stage 1 tune to mine and it is noticeably faster than stock and actually drives better w/ the tune than without. Finding I cannot find opportunities to enjoy the cars full potential (without risking jail time )

I likely could have bought the 230i and enjoyed that car just as much.
