Anyone have any more dumb ideas to submit to BMW? They must be almost out by now.

Just when you think you have it all figured out; wouldn't it be 1er GT and 2er GC?

I'm ok with them keep making lower end cars and FWD cars but at least make it consistent and call it 1 series GT and 1 series Active Tourer.
2 series is going to have BOTH FWD and RWD lol. What a joke. I thought BMW was one of only car brands that didn't have confusing nomenclature with simplified number system. |

BMW lost the plot. Too many models. Next the salesperson will be replaced by an iPad. In the UK they now call them product genius ! My local dealer really going down the pan. Staff leaving fed up with too many consultants telling them how to do their job.

IF bmw builds a 2er GT, a 2er Grand Coupe(GC) can't be too far behind!

The forthcoming F52 Sedan also inherits this more angular and futuristic appearance with L shaped headlights and thinner rear lights but also brings FWD and optional xDrive 100kg weight savings, transversely mounted engines that provide more space and packaging , a longer wheelbase, 3 and 4 cylinder petrol and diesel engines, 8 speed DKG trans, plug-in hybrid eDrive model and M Performance model.

Look at it this way, it's only ridiculous if you don't want the features of one of those models. Have a more open mind. Some people think all 2-door vehicles are the only thing you want or need. But, many of them don't have children or a baby where they need to put them into a child seat. Or, you have older passengers that have difficulty getting into the vehicle with a 2-door.
For the most part, the development costs on the same platform are minimal compared to an entirely new platform. If it gains some sales, all are better off. What's popular in some countries are ignored or dissed in others. While there are some that loved their wagons in the US, as a country, we bought very few of them where in other places, they're fairly popular. Certifying a platform for US use and stocking parts and training just may not make it worthwhile everywhere. |

Stupid. This nonsense needs to stop. BMW could be turning into Toyota.

Makes you wonder why Germany didn't bring in any hot hatches, or wagons into the United States 15 years ago, when My generation was begging SCOTT for them... now nearly every other BMW is a hatch, but in SUV form, not a wagon or a hot hatch to be seen... (I really wanted a M135i, not a 135is) BMW is chasing largest common denominator.. not selling the UDM. Last edited by w3rkn; 10-21-2014 at 08:01 PM.. |

http://press.porsche.com/news/release.php?id=883 If you notice the Cayenne is the most popular product that Porsche makes. Also do not forget that Porsche soon will be using VW's MBQ platform for all their cars. They already use it for the hideous Panamera. So yea Porsche is diluted but then again I think people forget that horribly ugly front engine porsche made in the 80s.. If BMW is diluted for making more models than the Cayenne, Macan, and Panamera should all be proof that the old porsche is gone. BMW's claim was sporty luxury vehicles. They never claimed to make sports cars and in their home country they have NEVER been viewed like American's try to make that brand out to be. I mean the first BMW to come to america after being purchased by the current owners was a mustang competitor. Should BMW go back to the drawing board and say "Hey we are going to go back to competing against American muscles cars!" Porsche equals Sports cars. They wanted to be the German Ferrari that you could use everyday. Porsche made the Cayenne as a cash grab and before they were purchased by VW who ironically they were attempting to buy. Simply put the Cayenne is the vehicle that allows Porsche to make the cars people love and now with VAG money they can do more. Also look at Audi as for years Audi struggled against Mercedes and BMW. It took the VAg group pouring billions of cash into Audi for them to finally make headway. Ferdinand Piech said VAG would spend as much as possible for Audi to become the number 1 luxury car. Might not like it but BMW has to sell more cars if they wish to compete against the VAG backed Audi who's R&D is not affected by their own cash pool. If Audi is profitable then not only does Audi have Audi money to develop better cars but also VW money. Mercedes is in the same boat as they have always used commercial sales and now have been producing lower end cars because their competition is not just Audi and BMW but the VAG. In summation if either Merc or BMW are to survive and not get crushed by the VAG they must compete against it. If BMW kept to what many of you people claim they should do Audi will crush them. |
