My dealer says my car is still awaiting shipment, so I guess it's not on its way yet. I'm trying to time the sale of my current car (ie my down payment) so that I'm only driving a rental for a few weeks. So it's a little tricky for me.

Ummm. My car hasn't moved in a long time. I am stuck on the "your vehicle has been released to a carrier and is awaiting transportation to the port of exit". Been on this same status for well over a week now. I am just over here dealing with the agony of this wait. Actually sad story but I have had dreams the last two nights that my car got severely damage and they just tried to give it to me without fixing it.

Just found out why......It seems BMW NA is no longer able to track my vehicle or my dealership has been slacking and taking their good old time with things. BMW NA said my vehicle completed production on the 19th of September. The dealership didn't even contact me with a VIN or a payment request (read special payment procedures above) until the 24th of September which is 3 business days after the car finished production. Funny they contacted me the day the vehicle finished production and said they didn't have a VIN yet There is the possibility that it could be shipped outside of the scope of the BMW NA tracking system which I hope is the case. If this is the case earliest movement wouldn't of been until September 30 or October 1st.

I was at the dealership yesterday chillin w/ my salesmen and in their system, it still showed that Production had completed & the car was awaiting shipment. They did give me the VIN, though.
If the cars are being shipped outside of the scope of BMW NA tracking system then we're just left with randomly searching the usual shipping suspects w/ our VINs I guess?

Don't know if your situation is very different from mine but I did ED, handed it over at the Welt on 9/27 for redelivery to PCD. Just found out today that it is not scheduled to leave port till Oct. 23rd, and scheduled to reach Brunswick Nov 10th. Tack on a couple of weeks to clear customs, set a date for PCD (hoping Nov 21st) , and my ED to PCD delivery ends up at 8 weeks.
FWIW when I called BMW NA customer service they were able to reroute me to someone who knew exactly what ship I am scheduled for. |

My history with BMWNA is on and off. So far they have been good but I did notice they did not always the same or up to date information I was getting. As far as the production they did fine but once my car arrived at the port they pretty much were a step behind, I tracked my car online and it arrived yesterday but when I called the number this morning the first person I spoke to said the car was still on the ship, in realty the car was not only off the ship it had already finished customs and was at the lot waiting for the truck to the pick it up. When I called back later in the day they had no further information for me but did tell me my car would be at the dealer Monday 10/13. I emailed my CA and he told Monday he will have the car but they need a few days to do some things including my tints.
I should be picking up my car at this time next week. BMWNA is always a little behind, they only update every 24 hours and the website is behind by a few days, it still says in transit for me. |

Called the 800 number Tuesday (day production ended), the person I spoke with said the car was undergoing quality checks. Called yesterday, the automated machine said the car was awaiting shipment to the port of exit. Called again today, the machine says it's on it way to the port of exit. This seems rather quick, hopefully it will be on the ship next week though I'd like to take delivery in November. Maybe some of us will be on the same ship.

My car has been waiting for a ship since Friday. I checked the status between Bremerhaven and Brunswick GA with Wallenius Wilhelmsen and Integrity left Bremerhaven 10/11 Don Juan leaves tomorrow arriving at Brunswick around November 3. Marine Traffic does show Don Juan at port.

Just keep in mine things are always 24-48 hours behind. When I checked with BMWUSA they were always days behind, the contact number is usually 24 hours behind but W&W were always up to date and had the most info but I did call the 800 number a few times a week for updates

Okay - I just called the BMW 800 number and my car is in transit!! Not sure which ship though - status has changed within the last 24 hrs for sure though, so must be one of the ships that just left.

Well from the looks of it either the hotline was way behind or your car isn't being shipped by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics because their schedule shows last ship to depart for the CA port closest to you was on Oct 7th with an arrival of Oct 29th.

Agreed - all my searches of shipping schedules didn't really line up with ships heading to the West Coast. But I'm meeting up w/ my sales guys for drinks later so they're gonna check on the status for me.

Nice! My production date was yesterday (week 42). The 800 number confirmed today that production was completed and my car was waiting to be released to the carrier. I'll be a few weeks behind you, but nice to know there are other 2ers on their way to this area (I live in Pleasanton, work in San Ramon). So far, I've seen one AW M235i, in Dublin and the same one again in San Ramon, and a couple 228i's, one EB and one MG.

It was about the same delay when I did ED w/ my 328i a few years back. Dropped the car off in Munich and it was on a ship about a week later.
