Track Only Car - Help Me With Tire/Wheel Width Maximums

Building a 235i for WRL/NASA - We have planning on using the 235IR wide body setup, but there are some delays, and shipping alone is $1500 (total kit over $10k) - so we're considering holding off for now.

This is a race car, purpose built, never be driven on the track. We're expecting to run 3 to 3.5 camber, will likely run JRZ non-resi coilover, or Ohlins DFV setup - My brain hurts reading through so many threads about "poke" "concave" etc...

I need to know, running square setup what is widest tire M235 can accommodate - Also, ideal offset. Last, I've read about Turner hub extensions, certain coilovers rubbing etc. Any permanent info greatly appreciated!

Reach out to teams already running the car.
If you need a few introductions let me know.
My buddy Anthony ran PWC TC last season in a 235 and won rookie of the year.

Its going to be cheaper by a lot to just buy a 235R off a race team, new or used rather than building it yourself.

They are going for about 80 -95k.

I was heavily disappointed as well to find you couldn't fit any decent size wheels/tires. Keep us updated on your progress.

Value's are going up, and you can build one of these for much less than $90k ... A lot of the proprietary "IR" stuff is outrageously over-priced, and rebranded parts that are much cheaper.

basic parts i would agree with you, but suspension, air jacks, braking, etc... that will add up.

Yeah, the front setup alone is $10k... rotors and pads are outrageous to replace, I have no interest in that setup. My suspension shop disassembled the "IR" KW stuff and found it to be V3 internals in a motorsports body - completely overpriced again. Part of the deal when it comes to factory built race cars

I run 18"/255 square with no fender modifications.

With the perfect wheel offset(s) I could probably do a 265 square tire.

Just make sure you have a camber solution and watch the front inner suspension clearance. I run a spacer up front and a custom eibach spring length to clear my Clubsports up front. Also a higher spring rate up front to balance out the square setup.

275 square would be ideal, but no way to do it with OEM fenders in my opinion.
