I did a search on exhausts before making a purchase & noticed some folks recommending against Dinan exhaust due to price. And when I first was shopping around Dinan's exhaust was at $1799 & even $1899 on some sites.

I saw on Dinan's site the price for the F22 exhaust is $1399. They reduced the price of their exhaust back in Feb.

Just an FYI - if you're interested, currently they're on back-order & not expected to ship until 4/29. Scott did say they're hoping to ship sooner.

Wanted to let folks know on the price change.

Also If you PM Evan@Tischer aka getBMWparts.com they have forum discounts, better than other dealers I inquired about pricing. I ordered a Dinan Cold Air Intake from Evan and was satisfied with price, communication and quick shipping.

Wish I knew this before I ordered... but $1399.. I'll take it. Was looking at the Awe Tuning exhaust but decided against it because I have the M Perf diffuser & their set up is too short. Need extensions... I really liked the sound of the Awe from what is discernable on youtube.

But the Dinan... there are a couple of vids & this thing sounds downright wicked.


CAI worth it?? Man, I am reading so many conflicting opinions about them. But most of the claimed engineers seem to say no real power increase.

I just ordered it the other day. Dinan claims gains of 10hp and 15trq - they also quit trying for another model car, f23 i think? because they couldn't get any gains. definitely will improve sound and I plan on going Dinan on other mods. we'll see what the butt dyno thinks. Their are proven gains on intakes. I dont have proof myself.

Proven gains vs noticeable gains. In my experience intakes lean more towards the proven side. What does it matter though. Get what you like. Life is too short.

How much sound difference is there really between MPE and Dinan PE? Both sound a bit too quiet IMO.

I agree. From what ive read, nobody seems to notice much of a gain. I'm getting it for both the sound and gains, more so for a tune down the road. I know you're debating on injen or bsm. I was thinking about getting injen for a bit. I also want to try and stay away from to many different manufacturers. Anyhow should arrive tomorrow and probably get it on Friday.

Great question. Be nice to hear in person rather than videos. I been debating between both, leaning towards the MPE as its cheaper. Idk that I personally need anymore than what these two offer, Or the unwanted attention as well.

Dang! I just bought and put on the MPE with carbon fiber tips. I don't remember this Dinan deal being available last week when I got my exhaust. Bad timing, I'm really tempted to jump on this. I 'm just wondering what the difference would be in sound.

Crap, is the dinan quiet? I was interested in this one and it sounded pretty good in the YouTube videos. I'm torn between this and the fabspeed exhaust. I don't want quiet though. I don't want obnoxious, but I want to know that it's there.

TV, surround sound system - the Dinan sounds NASTY (as in good nasty). Sounds a bit "sharper" (if you get my meaning) than the M Performance. But, watching M Performance vids on my system, it sounded deeper.

I actually just wrote Dinan & asked them to cancel my order. My car just came in, has been released to the carrier & should be at the dealer any day now. I have the custom painted aero parts, including the diffuser, and I want to be able to put those on.

The M Performance deal at Sun Motors is too good to pass up & I don't have to wait until 4/29. I am installing it myself - as well as the parts.

My view is - the Dinan sharpness & supposed performance gains aren't worth the difference when taking into consideration a possible 4/29 delivery date.

Its only a 6hp gain on most exhausts for the m235 proven.

I'd say give it a try. The sound will be better IMO then MPE or Dinan and your saving a good amount of money. At the worst, you can always put back on the stock exhaust, upgrade to something else and then sell the muffler delete setup. I just got it done on Friday and personally, I think its well worth it.

Any drone? I can take some measure of drone as long as it's not at cruising speed. Basically between 2,500 to 3,000 rpm.

I'm all over the place man. I can't decide what to do. for me this is probably the most important mod. I'm worried about drone and the awe drone threads have me second guessing that one.

There's some drone at the 2500-3500 rpm range but then again, I hear the AWE exhaust has the same drone in that range. For me personally, both the Dinan and MPE are just too quiet. I don't see how into the thousands of dollars is worth a little bit of a crackle.
I'm very happy with the muffler delete at a fraction of the price.

Very happy with it over the past 2 months.
Not sure because I have no recording of it new, but with a couple thousand miles on it now,
it sure seem to sounds deeper under hard acceleration.
