Congratulations on a fantastic build. Many decisions for my ongoing build made based on this! You've managed to make some subtle details that puts this in a class of its own, IMHO. You write you've done some upgrades - photos of those? Question: How much has your KW lowered the car and could it be lowered even more with your current wheels or do you see a limit?

As far as the wheels you could technically go lower but without rolling he fenders you'd get some major rubbing with my current wheels. On stock wheels you should be able to go lower. The other limitation is that the front lip is only a few inches off the ground currently so if I were to go lower that could become quite a pain. Right now I don't have to worry much about hitting anything.

Thanks! I am rebuilding a slightly crashed 235 with only 8500 miles on it. Picked it up in Germany a few weeks ago and we've now stripped the front to change a couple of panels. Out with engine, gearbox, complete front, windshield and dash. Going in at the end of next week for straightening and a few new panels. The car will be driven from time to time as a dd and also used for track days. Upgrading a little here and there. Original wheels will be used for winter tires, looking for a summer tire set up and will most likely go with same as yours. Then I will have a third set for track days. Thinking much about width, ET, etc. A lot of confusing info here - it seems what works for some absolutely doesn't for others... I have great help with the entire project - couldn't do without - from a great friend and shop owner that has worked within international motorsports for most of his life. I will mount JRZ RS Pro coilovers ( hence my question of how much your KW has lowered your car?), better cooling, a Drexler differential, etc, etc. We will start with road handling, cooling and brakes and when we get that right we move on to power. A M-sport exhaust is already installed. Will also add a Wiechers club sport. It is great to see projects like yours - it gives the rest of us inspiration, as I mentioned in my previous post! Happy Thanksgiving! Brgds P

Thanks! Appreciate that very much and I'd love to come back and pick your brain about some of your power upgrades and your experiences. Had an interesting chat with one of the leading tuners in Germany last week. Gave me very specific guide lines to what to focus on and in which order. These guys do prototyping for BMW, as well as having been awarded best tuning award from Sport Auto in Germany for their 235, which should mean a thing or two. Here's a pic from where we stand right now. I'll start a separate thread so I don't impose on yours. Thanks again, though!

Thanks! I actually went away and got all black again. Was too much color for me with the red struts behind it.

Improve cooling before anything else - better oil cooler, bigger fan and a thermostat rework thingy. Check with the guy you got your exhaust from... :-)

Everything is perfect. Except for stickers on windows and anything but non oem roundels. So if I bought your car it would take about $100. to make it perfect to me. That's pretty damn good.

Beautiful car. How are you liking the Bootmod tune? Much better than JB4?
And how was the OEM clutch holding power? I plan to take one to FBO on stock turbo, hoping the factory clutch will be able to handle it without need to upgrade |

I swapped for a clutchmaster clutch when mine started slipping. That was around 35k but I had been full bolt on with jb4 map 2 since around 2k miles. So not sure how the current mods would have done on stock clutch but I?d imagine they wouldn?t have lasted.

255 30 19. Only have minimal rubbing when the car is full. But I?m running adjustable height coil overs.

Not really. There was no m2 in 2014. I've enjoyed the journey of watching the car grow to where she is now.

I think you have something much more unique and original, than " just another M2 ". Just my opinion, but theres no buyers remorse on my end. I've lapped with M2's and M4's and the gap I made on them just solidified my thoughts of the ladder of M car owners that just simply cant drive their cars within the capabilities of the car, but pretend to buy them for "track use" and spend $20-50k on top of the M car purchase anyway. I don't want to me a part of a that club, I'd rather be an underdog

The M2 wasn't available yet when I got my car either, but I would have gotten it if it was. I definitely would not have waited though as I got to enjoy the M235i for quite some time before the M2 actually came out. Now that it is out, there's no way I would switch to an M2 at this point as it's too similar. Next up is probably an F80 for me!
