Early Birthday! Harmon Kardon & LCI Tail Lights!

My birthday is next week so I used it as an excuse to get myself some stuff!

Harmon Kardon
Door speakers, tweeters & rear deck speakers- definitely an improvement and tweeters make the interior look better then the blank plates that comes with the hifi system, might add rear tweeters and touch idrive controller to the list

&

LCI Tail Lights !! Easy install and used bimmercoding app to code!

No not at all , especially if you do the HK door speakers since it's direct plug and play, taking the door panel is just removing 5 torx screws and releasing pressure clips , all goes back together just as easy

I only have apple products so besides running boot camp to emulate windows which isn't hard but can be annoying , buying the BimmerCode app and cheap Amazon wifi obdii adapter is the best way and how I coded them ! All done with an iPhone

Did you follow a DIY or just did it as you figured things out along the way?

This forum seems to lack DIYs..

I'm looking to upgrade my Hifi speakers to Harmon Kardon also.
I have a couple questions perhaps you could answer:

1. Was the installation fairly straight forward, any tips/trouble shooting?
2. I noticed in your photo you didnt have the harmon Kardon tweeters for the center center or the rear deck?
3. Were you able to do any research on the Harmon Kardon amp, I cant seem to find if the appropriate rough-in is available for a simple plug+play when switching from hifi to HK.

Note: I know there is much better equipment available, I simply would like to keep my car OEM as possible regardless the cost.

Thanks!

Good question on the amp since I will have the base stereo in my 240 when it arrives. I'm also curious about the front HK tweeters and wondering whether you can get the HK grills and use different tweeters with plug-and-play simplicity. I've seen others commenting about Focal tweeters which I might like to try.

HK Tweeters

Did you get the tweeters OEM? Did you install? The sound in my 2017 M240i isn’t that great and I’m looking to upgrade.

I recently purchased a used hk amp from the classifieds after a friend gave me hk tweeters and speakers for free. I purchased the sills separately (40ish each from sun motorcars). Everything was plug and play and it was a nice upgrade from the hifi setup. I also installed the asd bypass harness with the hk amp. If you go from stock subs to the hifi ones, you will have to modify the housings by using a dremel (you have to cut out the outer edge where the gasket sits, since the stock hk sub has an integrated gasket). I would recommend recoding the car after and changing the VO.
