Help me decide --> Long beach blue or Mineral Grey?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Here are my thoughts: 1. I'm 29, this is my first real "sports car," and I'd always envisioned myself driving a gunmetal grey car, tinted out, with dark wheels. That's basically what the MG m2 would be. 2. When I first saw the car in person, I didn't LOVE the LBB, and I liked the MG but didn't love it. I saw both in the sunlight. When I saw the car a second time, I felt the same way about the MG, but I liked the LBB a lot more. The first dealership I visited had a LBB with the stock chrome trim, while the second one had a LBB with tint and with the black side and front grills. I think that made a huge difference for some reason. 3. I am a young lawyer at an LA law firm and somewhat worry that the blue may be too loud. I don't drive around with anyone from work that often, and nobody usually sees me park, so this probably isn't a huge issue. 4. If I was to lease this car, I would get the LBB in a heartbeat. However, I am buying it and plan on keeping it forever. I am a little worried that I'll get sick of the LBB. 5. I've only seen both colors in the middle of the day in the sunlight. I'm told the MG looks better in the morning and at dusk, while the LBB looks best in the afternoon. With all these things in mind, if you have any general comments on any of my thoughts, I'd love to hear em! I'm having a hard time deciding. If you've seen both in person, what are your thoughts? Thanks very much. |

My debate was LBB or AW. In my opinion LBB looks amazing under certain lighting and average under certain lighting. When those greens come out it’s a deal breaker for me.
That’s what made my decision. Of course sometimes I question it. Id go MG. You’re not going to run into many other MG M2s. Can’t say the same for the most popular color LBB (or #2 AW for that matter) |

If you are this on the fence, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you should pick MG. I got LBB, still prefer it, and am happy with that decision. I think MG is a great color that almost nobody dislikes so you really can't go wrong in choosing it. It really sounds like you are already trying to talk yourself out of LBB so why take the chance?

I've seen all of the colors and honestly they all look great. I'm week 38 as well and went LBB simply for the fact that it's a unique color and is the m2's signature color. If you think you're going to get tired of it the same could be said of MG. (Btw I still think Laguna Seca Blue still looks fantastic on the e46's)
I think the real question that you'd have to figure out for yourself is whether you want a loud color or be more under the radar. I don't think you can go wrong either way. |

MG is nothing special, very bland color, LBB all the way.

That is beautiful, you're right. I'm just not willing to spend the $5k to do it... so for this exercise I'm basically comparing the MG to the LBB

I was in the same situation as you. I just ordered mine as MG scheduled to come around October. I was just worried about the green tint of the LBB plus I don't really like the attention it would bring. Both, however, are fine colors and don't think you can go too wrong with your choices!

Same choices topped my list also and went LBB because:
- it's the poster color, I tend to believe that BMW designers do know that this color suits the car best. - better in the summer. MG is close to black so several degrees more during the summer - better than MG with scratches. white marks on an almost black will be more visible - better than MG with dirt/dust. the darker the color the more frequent you need to wash your car and less it stays clean an shinny after bath - MG hides a bit the cars flared arches and shoulders - easier to resell Don't get me wrong... these were my reasons but the car looks really nice in MG also. |

Imagine pulling your blacked out MG M2 beast from your garage. Blacked tint and and black grille. It's a car in stealth mode but there's no ignoring it on the road. I love mine more and more everyday. The lines on it are so nice in person. It will be more unique in the long run and also never go out of style. I'm in my 20's too and plan on driving this beast until all cars on the road are self driving! Lol

Do you want a lot of attention from everyone or only just car guys that know what an M2 is?
LBB is a huge attention grabber. MG is kind've an incognito mode. Personally i'm not a fan of LBB for the reason stated above, the green, plus I don't like the attention. AW is my favorite color for the car, but when purchasing it was MG vs AW for me. AW + Roof/Spoiler wrapped black beats them all IMO. |

It's bland. MG is monotone, lack of color, might as well be black.
I like MG more than black, but I can't bring myself to buy a boring color car; life is too short. I was between MG and LBB until I saw LBB a few times in person, I love it. This is going to be my 4th blue car in a row... but LBB is different enough from the 3 prior blues I've had, I don't really mind. Living in LA, I would think you'd want white or blue due to sun reasons alone. MG or black will bake even more inside than a lighter color...

Ive nearly always owned cars in silver or white, my 997 is meteor grey, my F80 was AW. With the M2 I was ready for a change so I went with the LBB and couldn't be happier. Not saying I don't like the AW, or the MG...BS I just can't do with my OCD after once owning a black 356 that drove me nuts trying to keep clean. To me, LBB was the launch color and so different from what I was used to that I wanted to give it a go. Since I got it I've received nothing but complements from everyone who sees the color. I think the AW always represents a clean, performance BMW but fails to show off the lines of the M2. If I could have done BMW individual on the M2 I would have been torn between Pure Metal Silver and Fjord Blue (to match my '74 2002Tii)
Either way you won't go wrong....AW is easiest to keep clean

OP...you are a 29 year old lawyer buying a $50k+ sports car. You've arrived (pat yourself on the back) and don't need to make any excuses to anyone for the choices you make for the rest of your life. In other words, don't worry about what the firm's partners, your colleagues, underlings, friends, neighbors, clients or your mom thinks. I suspect you already understand this since the M2 will make quite an impression, regardless of what color you choose. Get the color that will make you happy.
Anyway, MG is the safe choice, very understated...beautiful. But LBB? It's a moving work of art and a shot of mescal rolled into one. Definitely makes a statement. And this 48 year old financial advisor is turning in his MG 435 for a LBB M2. And I don't care if my neighbors think it's too loud or a client thinks I'm experiencing a mid-life clrisis...it's gonna make me smile every time I see it. |

Only you can decide - don't worry about what *others* will think. Now...if only BMW offered BMW Individual paint choices on the M2, I am tired of the four color offerings!

MG like I said before. Now imagine a bunch of carbon fiber goodies on the car. If you plan to put carbon fiber I say MG. Like I said in an earlier post lol.
