LSD on 228i?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I know a previous post had a BMW executive say that they were considering an LSD option on the 228i (and standard on the 235i). Does anyone have any more info on this? I think the 228i with LSD would make a terrific track car.

The fashion is to have electronic LSD with independent control of rear brakes by the computer. It does 90% of the job fine, but hardcore track rats say they can feel the difference and it is in the 10% that great thing really happen. I suspect this type of electro-LSD is what is discussed here.

No a true LSD is going to be offered. Not sure about standard, but an option is great regardless.

On the 228i? I've only heard talk about the M235i, not across the board. I'd assume that you could probably buy the diff from the M235i and install it on the 228i, but I doubt they'll offer it on both models.

In the Nurburgring article Klaus Froehlich was quoted as saying ".....I'm just working out whether to make this an option on all models," after noting it was already approved for the M235i.

I don't remember seeing any newer official statements.

It would be great to see mechanical LSD's become available again on non M's. Hopefully Klaus makes it so.

It's a must have no doubt-

The reason LSD's were not offered on the outgoing series models is data logging w/LSD in place was never done on a long term development level so BMW opted not to for safety liability concerns having to do w/DSC.
