A8 would be easier but has less features (stage 1.5)
JB4 is the most complete tune

I can post prices here or links... Check out our website of the vendor section
OK will do. I believe the Afe one I have adds 3.5 pds of boost. How much does the JB4 add?

JB4 is really not had to install...first time will take you like 45 min but every subsequent time you take it in and out you'll be able to do it in like 15.
That's good to know, thanks!

thanks Mike! So it sounds like I would have to run on map 2 to get more power than what the AFE scorcher module is giving me now.

No
AFE gives you 3 psi
Jb4 stage 1 gives you 4psi

Map 1 offers more power than AFE

OK thanks. So either way JB4 will give me more power regardless of the stage. I appreciate you clarifying that for me.

Hey Mike,
I remember reading this from awhile back from "N54 Mike" regarding the aFe Scorcher and its boost as I was always under the presumption it was 4.5 psi myself.......

"It's based on the same analog technology as the BMS Stage1, only instead of being set to 3.5psi as the Stage1 is, they set it to 4.5psi. BMS prefers to have CAN bus access in place for the higher boost levels so keeps those for JB4 level performance.

FWIW awhile ago BMS added the DB9 port back to their Stage1 tune so technically it can be adjusted from 0-6psi using the Stage1 interface and USB cable. So to match it up with the AFE set it to 4.5. The better solution though is to add the extra wires and JB4 box at that point.

The rest of the connections on the harness are meant for upgrading to the JB4. The idea is you just swap the box out for $150, connect the extra wires in the harness, and have a full JB4."

I checked with AFE about boost before when creating this thread ... They told me their stage 1 adds 3 psi

As for the BMS comments, you are correct. BMS does not feel comfortable adding more than 3,5 psi without can access

Stage 1 is never meant to be the tune for max power, this is a simple tune (easy install and uninstall) to make noticeable power for a cheap price.

Users looking to get max gains should opt for a complete tune like the JB4 stage 2

Thanks for the clarification. I wonder why Mike thought it was 4.5 psi????

I disagree with the WHP though . I intentionally left that out because some companies tend to inflate their WHP gains in order to make more sales.

As a consumer, i can tell which tune is making more power because of the psi increase each tune offers

A8 is a stage 1 tune. It does not have the ability to delete codes.
You will be getting a code if you run catless downpipe with it.

All A8 maps are meant for daily drivers on stock cars
Mike,

So I'm leaning towards the A8 since I'm really not going to add DPs or any other big mods. I currently just have an AFE intake and don't plan on going any further. I'm also not a fan of having a unit that needs to be plugged into my ODB2 port and needs to be connected to the car's battery. Once I get into the car and have this unit setup to my liking, I just want to get into my car and go, the have the power be there when I want it.

What do you think?

Correction about the last post.
Active OBD tune locks flash counter until stock map has been re-uploaded
It also gives the user the ability to load stock map at any time

To support the Simon3 I'll share my setup again. Nic at AA is helping me fix this issue I'm having with the flash, but the malfunctions lit up do not impact performance but it's annoying and shouldn't have anything lit up. I am not throwing any codes either.

Upgraded to 3.5Bar sensor on my M235i with much smoother powerband with smoothing practically off, it's on the lowest possible smoothing. This run hit 28psi but later in the day I had a misfire in cylandar 4, but cleared the misfire, backed boost down to 23-24 and it's smooth. FYI - dinantronics sport in race mode with 97 octane had boost raise from simon3's 22psi to 28.5psi. Sport cat will be installed Thursday and I'll post more then to highlight the Simon3 success on my car. The constant pull feels amazing through the powerband. I'll be installing new spark plugs too because it's time.

What exactly do you get with the transmission flashing?
Does this include the 8 speed auto in the F22?

transmission flash does increase clamping force thus helps the extra power ( less slipping)
