How was the process of getting in? Did you have to make an appointment months out or was it shortly after you getting their information to them were they able to get you in? How long did it take?
I am really interested in going this route. |

I think you all need to read this thread before making any assumptions about the super locking quaife diff.

Birds had Quaife internals in stock so was able to book it in in less than 1 week. Cars was with Birds for 2 days but had springs and arbs fitted at the same time. F30form - 2nd BMW I have had a Quaife installed on. Transforms the cars IMHO even on the road. Cars used as DD, dad's taxi and occasional trackday duties. |

Sure Quaife will replace their unit. But I doubt they will cover the rest of your drivetrain in the event of a major failure. If you don't care about warranties buy an e46 m3 |

Seriously you don't have to prove anything and neither do I ! BMW will not even know it's installed back there. BMW has to know and prove it caused any other parts to fail. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnu...s_Warranty_Act" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://<a href="http://en.m.wikipedi...rranty_Act</a>" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://<a href="http://<a href="http...ty_Act</a></a> |

All in it cost me $2400 for the M performance including tax/install/etc. My 100k warranty is too precious .

I had a custom built LSD installed on 3 of my BMW's and in my opinion the quality and make of the LSD is by far better than Quaife or others I have seen out there. This guy charges more but he custom builds each one.

I have purchased the BMW m-performance LSD unit; its a complete brand new unit - no core charge involved - had a former M3 with a gear type differential; the clutch type differential seems to fit the handling personality of the BMW better than gear type.
I would suggest purchasing the BMW M-performance unit as BMW has tuned the handling of the LSD unit to match the 2 series perfectly; BMW traditionally always ships performance cars with Clutch type LSD units. Quaife units are very high quality but they only sell the differential; you would need it installed into the original open differential that came in the car. Gear-type differential units are great for AWD and front drive cars; they are OK for rwd cars but when BMW puts a clutch type differential into EVERY //M car and supplies it as a factory OEM option for the M235 its pretty obvious what BMW thinks is the best. |

MP LSD is port install or dealer install only. It still is not a factory OEM option, even if configured that way online.

the part is in the BMW parts catalog @ my local BMW dealer parts counter. this is OEM enough for me; if I wanted a BMW with a factory (Germany) installed LSD unit I would have purchased a M4. I'm not sure why people have failed to notice the STICKY in this section of the message board: http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=982939 Last edited by wanganstyle; 02-10-2015 at 11:20 AM.. |

I went to a babybmw mini meet yesterday in UK in wet and rainy conditions on country roads or not on a circuit. http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=73906 Attached thread is from UK forum. My comment on 2nd page re Lots of fun and games in terms of traction for some. "Tweeny" was following me for the most of time yesterday. My car has jb4 stg2 with map6 engaged despite the sh!te conditions and thanks to my Quaife, I had no traction issues at all. BP |

I had the Quaife from Birds on my 335i (ah the memories) and it was fantastic. Best single bang for your buck investment by far on powerful rear drive cars IMO.
(I also had the ARB's and retuned Bilstein suspension from Birds - what a package. Turned that car into a cross-country weapon. Will be doing the same on the 140i). D'oh... the moment you realise you replied to a 2 year old post lol Last edited by paddy335; 09-15-2016 at 10:25 PM.. |

Paddy,
Don't worry fella about the late reply. I had Birds B3s package on my e91 335i too. With non RFT, M3 subframe bushes at the rear and M3 LCAs and TS at the front the car rode and handled superbly. My M135i has had nearly full birds all but dampers as I'm on adaptive. Car foibles gone and gets down the road very well indeed !

not the same car I admit, but 4 years ago a mate who worked for a well know tuning company had a 335 e92 running around the 400bhp mark, he had the quaife diff and raved about it, and abused it hard for 30k miles before selling car
