I bought the tow hook product from turner motorsport. It is extremely high quality and seems sturdy. In the past I've used the Skene Design brackets, and those also work well. So far no issue with sensors (of course, that might be because I don't have any...lol).

If it is required by law, what is the issue? Where I am it's required by law and cars have front brackets on them at the dealer.

Sorry to re-ignite this thread (was looking for options for my '16 m235), but the issue is people don't want to drill holes into the bumper of their brand new bimmer because of some asinine law that's only moderately enforced to saturate ticket quota's from red light camera's.

It's also illegal to eat oranges in the tub in this state.

Honestly. The best option is the drilled bumper and the OEM bracket for the U.S. plate. In Oregon the front plate requirement is a rich vein of revenue for the state and municipalities. The bumper is meant to be drilled. So drill, baby, drill!

I don't need a front plate so have never given this a ton of thought, but couldn't you just use 3M double sided tape to secure plate to bumper? Could use same stuff to attach a frame to the plate if you want.

I used that stuff for an exterior ez pass once and it held solid through 3 years in Chicago.

Double-sided 1/8" thick foam tape is your friend. And so easy.

This looks like it would be EXTREMELY easy to attach via tape then mount the plate in a conventional way.

http://www.pedalhaus.com/quickrelease.html, perfect no holes-uses toe hook hole.
minutes to install. looks good for those states requiring front plate. sits to passenger side but no holes and only $69. if it turns out you don't like, just remove leaving no sign of it being there. i live in ct and so many people have no front plates on their "exotic" autos. i know mine is just a 235xi, but it's exotic enough for me to have no holes drilled in front bumper.

Have you had any issues with the parking sensors? There's another thread on here and these brackets seem to interfere with them...

I drove my 2004 Mazda RX-8 for 10 years with no front plate and never had a problem. I've been driving my 2014 M235i for 2.5 years now without a front plate, and still no problem.

I suppose someone is going to comment that it might interfere with air getting to the radiators behind it.
...
Everybody keeps telling me the Intercooler is going to overheat and stop making boost on mine. This summer driving hundreds of miles in the Texas heat... Zero impact. Car pulls great in the heat and does not seem to care. There is space behind the plate and I suspect that it still sucks in more air than it requires with the small amount of boost the factory has it programmed for. I like the way it looks and no holes drilled makes me happy!

i went with the US Mill Works quick release tow mount. pricey, but very high quality. i kept it on for about a month and now i just have it sitting in my trunk. if i get pulled over ill just tell the cop i forgot to put it on after a wash and throw it on... should be enough to get out of the ticket.

In LA you are pretty much ok as long as you don't park on the street Especially If you park at a meter. Places like Westwood, silver lake, Santa Monica, West Hollywood will ticket you. In a year I got like 3. Plus no front plate is a reason to get pulled over so I just decided to run the tow hook one. Having a black car and a black license plate actually looks pretty cool

I don't understand this logic. "I've broken the law for 12.5 years and never been caught?" What's there to be proud of? I'm not guiltless. While I have a front plate,I have been known to go over the speed limit. I wish they would enforce the law. It wouldn't be a source of revenue if people put the plate on.
