OBD2 Reader Recommendation

Hey all - I'm experiencing some strange and annoying behavior when driving my '16 M235i. I started a thread about the specific issue in the N55 engine subforum. It's intermittent, so I'm in the market for an OBD2 reader I can keep plugged in and pull data from after I experience the issue. Not looking to spend a fortune. Just something simple. Any recommendations? Thanks.

If you are having problems, a fault code will be logged, which you can use something like Carly for BMW or Bavarian Technic. Carly requires a bluetooth adapter (which they sell), and the BavTech tool comes with a cable.

I use Torque app and this: https://www.amazon.com/iSaddle-Bluet...e+obd2+scanner

EDIT: this is for an android phone. If you use Apple you need a wifi adaptor (not bluetooth). I think iSaddle makes that too though.

There's a huge sticky thread here about the various options for OBDII readers and mobile apps.

In general:

Android phone -> Bluetooth adapter paired with the Torque app
iPhone or iPod -> Wi-Fi adapter connected to the Dashboard app

I use a Wi-Fi OBDII adapter with an iPod Touch and Dashboard. Works great for me. I posted iPod screenshots showing oil and coolant temp gauges in that thread above.

The 2 series is not supported by Bavarian Technic. I've written them and they said that there will be support in the future but will not commit to a time frame. I figure I'll give it about 6 more months and if no support, I'm selling it. If anyone had figured out way to use it let me know please.

MyCarly sounds interesting. I'm going to read up on it. Basically, I want to be able to read BMW codes / shadow codes and register a battery.
