I'm selling my LOVE, my S54B32 CSL modded E30 because of the upcoming M2. So the M2 HAS TO BE amazing. He has to fit in big foot steps.

The new owner is coming saturday to pick him up. That will be a day with lots of tears after so much years of joy and fun. But I do not have the time to drive more than 2 cars.

So BMW, please do NOT disapoint me.

I don't think that "chunky slow 8 speed" is an appropriate descriptor of the ZF8 that's out there right now, particularly in the 2er. IMHO of course. The M2 does deserve the DCT though.

Well its not a "normal" M, I mean. Its still one hell of a car, but its not something that was meant to stay with M and be mass produced (produced to a similar quantity other Ms are). Its one of those special ones that wasn't meant to have a long run.

My point is this: Am I bummed that the M2 won't get CF roof? Absolutely. I hate sunroofs, so no matter what I do, my M2 won't come with it. Does that make it or break it for this car that it won't have a CF roof? Absolutely not. CF roofs are not what make M cars M cars.

Same with my E36 M3. Gets so much flak for not having a real S engine, but I'll tell you what, that is an absolute hoot to drive. As long as the M2 can make me smile like my current cars do, then it's absolutely a true M.
Totally agree. Awesome pic, just saw this...the grin says it all brother!

Bamowe, how you could sell that I honestly don't know!
That is an absolute gem.
I genuinely want an M2 AND an e30.
Please tell me there is build thread on that car, I would not mind fashioning a build on that car!

Thanks buddy! It's one of my favorites too. This car just keeps getting better and better. Just did an oil change and it came back with 1 lead PPM haha. This car is a keeper.

But still anxiously waiting for the M2. Once I add that car (assuming I like it), I'm done for a while. I think haha.

The big question for me at this point is if the M2 is gonna be as ugly as the M235i at the back.
Hopefully they do something to that backside, because it looks hideous on the M235i, which is a real pity seeing how nice the front is.

I have to agree. I love my M235i, and all sides of it grow on you over time. However, the rear is still my least favorite angle. I'm hoping the M2 will improve its shape.

I think it'll be hard not to when you add quad exhaust tips, big flares, much wider rear tires and an M Performance spoiler.

Still won't be as good looking as say an E46 M3's rear end, but it'll be a huge improvement to me.

it wont be looking better then a e46 M3 CSL rear end but it will be certainly better looking rear end then a normal e46 M3

Versus the life-saving "park assist" option that they do offer...to help us all out with those hazardous 5km/hr maneuvers in the Walmart parking lot. WTF is BMW thinking? To be honest, Blind Spot Assist has helped me out a few times over the years. I don't expect "park assist" would be able to do the same and if it did, I'd be too embarrassed to admit it. WTF is BMW thinking? Sorry, said that already. I really hope it's on the '16 options list for the entire 2 series, not just the M2.

Yes, this was a rant. It's ended now.
your side mirrors are pointing too much at the car. The car is not going to go anywhere you don't need to see it in the side mirrors!

My mirrors are set to point at the blind spot, hence no need for blind spot assist. Maybe needed on a UHaul truck though.

CF roof

Guys regarding CF roof. Isn't it possible the test mule has one but it's just been painted to disguise it?

Wishful thinking bud...BUT I hope you're right.
While we are at it, I wish the N55 engine code is just a cover for a bespoke engine, and that BMW comes out with "in-your-face" colors, out of the gate.
Extra credit:
1. 200lbs lighter than 235.
2. Proper hood line.
3. Round halos.

Some CF bits and pieces were - cough - accidentally - cough - spotted in December 2014 on a Z3 test mule 'disguised' as BMW M235i.

Actually, he has seen sketches of the M2 with CF roof. The base version he saw had a regular roof. If you read between the lines, it looks like the M2 base version gets the regular roof and the M2 CSL the CF roof.

It certainly is possible, and, it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be true. In part because BMW, it seems to me, is being unusually quiet about the make up of the M2 - a car entering production in just 5 months. Compare that to the M4 GTS which enters production in 10 months. BMW is, today, all over the place giving out details on that car.
Hmmmmmm. The plot sickens - strike that - thickens.

Audio

Think there will be an additional audio upgrade since all the flap since the original brochures advertised HK Surround Sound. This will be only M (reminds me of E46 M3) that has HK Premuim Sound. Even if it cost more I would pay it. I heard the HK in the M235i, lacks alot IMO.

Feedback, no one ever mentions it, maybe it will be in the LCI??? Looking at other brands, low end models have better spec'ed audio than the M235i, wa hoping BMW would change that with M2

AGREE on proper mirror setup.... one should NOT be able to see (very much, or perhaps even any of) the side of their own vehicle in a side view mirror.. however.. an Early Warning Detection system is never a problem.

More info.. and more driver confidence, are things I would never ask for LESS of..

OH and I'm sure the M2 will have DCT option. I don't know why everyone is expecting such a stripped down car. With the M4s selling into the 80k + range, there is plenty of room between 43 and 80k to make a great car without encroaching on the M3/4 territory. Look at the 1M, sure it was smaller and less powerful, but probably the most fun and engaging BMWs in recent memory.
NEW SCHOOL... LOL

Don't worry.. the 1M is Fantastic without the CF roof... if you want to hold out for an M2 CSL. sure.. go ahead.. . but don't miss out on an M2 completely because you got your nose out of joint all over a roof skin... or... I guess perhaps you are more the M4 type... then you can get a CF roof and you can pay 8K to color match your brake calipers!

however... if you want to know why people are expecting (and many of us, as with the 1M... are hoping for) a stripped down car is two fold.. 1- Weight is the enemy 2- OLD school. See E30 M3, E36 M3.. E46 M3... The only reason for a CF roof was because the cars got BLOATED and heavy as hell. and the looks
